(I'm not sure what the policy - or politics - is, with regard to 'corrections', but Ghee (clarified solid butter, as frequently used in Indian cooking) is to my knowledge and understanding, not pronounced 'Gee' (the 'G' sounding like the j in 'juice', or 'jiggle') but gHee (as the G would sound in 'gate' or 'gallery'....). It's very possible that someone may contradict me, and that's no problem; but I lived for a time with a family from Pakistan, I worked for a while for a family of Sikh Restauranteurs from Goa, and my father lived and worked in India shortly after WWII.... To my knowledge, I have never heard anyone from India or Pakistan, pronounce it 'Gee' (as in 'Gee Whizz')... Apologies if this isn't acceptable practice.....

well to me, the "h" added would then make someone think that you pronounce the "h."
So then people would think it would be "guh-hee."
What I put is exactly how it is notated in dictionaries for pronunciation. The hard "g" is noted with "g."
I'll just remove the hint, then there will be no confusion. Then someone who wants to know how it is pronounced, then they can play with Google and find an entry to pronounce it audibly for them.

It's fine. It's best to avoid misinformation, even if it's just a misunderstanding on how a word is mispronounced. Having such wierd letter sounds in English is a pill. Hard or soft g? Why can't a g be a g and a j be a j? Because it's English.

Cousin's birthday party in Italy... the theme was 'The Circus'. I was supposed to be a tightrope walker. The rope? A small length of narrow plank, on the ground. (I think I did quite well actually to get even half-way across!)

I know we are talking "soft" versus "hard" consonant sounds but as a former elementary school teacher when we taught phonics, well I'm reminded of the poem below (in the link) and how crazy/difficult the English Language is. Enjoy and ponder.

OMG! You've reminded me of THIS ONE - My father gave it to me to read out loud at one of his recital evenings we held annually at our old church... He actually gave it to me with around 3 minutes to spare! I got a standing ovation, and honestly? I had a headache afterwards!

    Perfect! Thanks.

Even we LCDers have managed to add to the mayhem in our own little way.....

"Frito & keto are ghastly together,
Yet lean & protein are birds of a feather.

And it's kosher as pork to blend petty and pretty,
But never malign carb-heads or write the word sh- ... *kitten* "

True. I'm actually asking about [taking Metformin] (I have high fasting BG no matter what I do) but they don't want me to use it. LOL

Well, here's some support for using metformin for diabetes prevention:

Lifestyle changes and treatment with metformin both reduced the incidence of diabetes in persons at high risk. The lifestyle intervention was more effective than metformin.

The Indian Diabetes Prevention Programme shows that lifestyle modification and metformin prevent type 2 diabetes in Asian Indian subjects with impaired glucose tolerance.

I asked for a dosage increase. He wasn't having it. But refilled the 1000mg for me anyway. He also said I was no longer prediabetic and metformin was not approved to treat prediabeties anyway. So I guess I'm lucky he didn't take me off it.
