Anyone else taking Dexilant?

Despite having gastric bypass, I'm still having symptoms of "silent" reflux and advancement of Barrett's Esophagus. The GI doctor has put me on Dexilant to see if I can get some improvement in my symptoms but I am having some bathroom issues and I feel like it is causing me to gain weight. Does anyone else have any experience to share with this medication?

I took it pre-surgical. I honestly can't share about the weight, but I know it caused some emergent needs for the bathroom.0

Sorry to hear you are going through this. Unfortunately I can't identify with that, it here for ya if you need to vent - what has your surgeon said about this? I don't know what Barrett's esophagus is Looks like Google time for me!0

@Ultima_Morpha I just searched Barrett's and I am so sorry to hear what you are dealing with. I'm glad to hear that you are seeing a GI doc and hoping thru can get you some relief asap. Hopefully between them and your surgeon they can identify a way for you to treat the reflux/Barrett's symptoms and continue to lose. Focus on how far you have come - your health is more important and you know that you will take off whatever weight you put on and you are being proactive so you have the tools. Keep me/is posted as to what's happening and if you need to vent or anything feel free to reach out. I don't recall if you have my contact info but if not let me know and I will PM you my number and email since it's usually quicker that way0

@NicoleL874 I'm going to get another DEXA scan soon to see what is happening with my body fat. I definitely feel like I've put on some muscle mass but, of course, paranoid about any weight gain. I am +10 from my lowest weight for no discernible reason. I do feel like I'm entering early menopause too and that could be contributing. It is all around my lower abdomen and butt...0

@jcavanna2 Thank you for the show of support. I think I've found it even harder because I don't get heartburn...I have other symptoms though (loss of smell, repeat ear and throat infections, mucus-y throat) and my latest EGD showed signs of ongoing gastritis.
I've had to cut back on my running miles too due to fatigue and a lupus flare up.

@Ultima_Morpha - sending you so many positive thoughts.1

@Ultima_Morpha you are far from broken - just consider yourself a work in progress I know this sucks but you will come out of this stronger than before! If you have to scale back running is there anything else that you think you would enjoy as much? I love spinning but not sure if that would affect you?2
