I got excited reading the headline...less excited once I saw it was Ian Smith, but still mildly hopeful...and then the meal plan: carbs and low fat. :( OK, so no table sugar, but french toast and maple syrup as a breakfast option? Snacks are literally "20 grams carbohydrate of choice". A teaspoon of mayo and 1 egg was the only fat I saw. I am disappoint.

Hate to break it to Dr. Smith, but carbs (whether complex or simple) are SUGAR as far as the body is concerned... all of them break down to glucose within the digestive tract and are then moved into the blood as SUGAR (with the exception of the fiber, of course).

Also - a fruit smoothie?!?!? talk about concentrating the sugars...

Exactly! I was tempted to leave a scathing remark in the comments section, but...probably pretty pointless.
