Fiber?

Do we count fiber on a ketogenic diet? I've been told conflicting things and would like to know what is accurate.

    Some people subtract the fiber from the carbs, for a 'net carb' count. Some people don't, just going with the total carb count.

    It's further complicated by labelling, in USA and Canada the label for carbs includes fiber, plus fiber is listed separately, hence the 'subtract fiber for net carb', but my understanding is in the UK, and perhaps elsewhere in Europe, the carbs on the label are alread 'net' with the fiber already subracted out.

    Ultimately in terms of how you personally count your carbs, I think that there's no right or wrong way. Do what's best / easiest for you, what works best into your lifestyle and gives you the results you want.

    FWIW I personally look at both numbers - I like my 'total carbs' under 35g / day and my 'net carbs' under 20g / day.
