I've been at a comfortable weight/size for over a year now. I've never used the term "maintenance". I just try to live a healthy life day after day. When I met the surgeon in early 2015 he wanted me to lose at least 20 pounds so I cut out sweets as much as possible. And I've stuck to that fairly well these couple years. Since December I've reduced refined sugars and carbs dramatically. I eat lots of fruits, veggies, meats, eggs, etc. I don't count calories but I'm proably in the 2,000-3,000 a day range. I'm convinced that if you cut refined carbs you can pretty much eat as much as you want throughout the day. That being said, I eat when I'm hungry and stop before I get too full. I never feel stuffed nor deprived. I don't worry about water consumption too much. I do always have a bottle with me though. I'm getting 100-150 ounces of liquid a day. My dietician says 40 should be a minimum assuming you're eating fruits and vegetables. I occasionally take a multi-vitamin and a Vitamin D pill although I'll probably stop when I run out. I like to EAT my nutrients. All my lab work is good. My blood pressure is good and my Resting Heart Rate is consistantly in the low-50s
I do some form of exercise everyday. I have a FitBit and get my steps in no matter what. Sometimes I hike, run or bike. And occasionally I'll do some body resistance exercises or play basketball. I don't have a gym membership. I personally think it's more important to be consistant and to be moving throughout the day than to do hard core exercise all the time. I've become a "runner" and am hoping to run a Half-Marathon this year and a Marathon in 2018.
Botttom line is I just try to lead a happy and healthy life and effect my community positively. Just eat well and move through out the day!1
