Really disgusting question about bodily actions

Seriously, gross. So don't say I didn't warn you.

For a few days now I've been taking supplements in the AM and PM. AM are on an empty stomach, PM are on a full/somewhat full stomach. No issues. But yesterday morning I got home from work and took my supplements and within about 3 minutes, I felt my gorge rise and I threw up. But I didn't throw up any pills, or any food from dinner the night before. Just a little bit of water and a lot of dry heaving. Felt fine afterwards.

Last night before work, took my supplements. Within 5 minutes, I was once again crouched over the toilet. Again, threw up just water, none of the huge binge meal I'd eaten not that much earlier, and no pills. Little bit of water, lots of dry heaving.

What the hell??? All I'm taking is magnesium (2 pills), Thermotabs (2 pills), 1 Turmeric, and birth control in the evening. I'm dreading taking them this morning. I will probably just take 1 magnesium and a turmeric and skip the Thermotabs. Maybe I need to space everything out throughout the day? That would be a pain. But, so is puking.

How long does it take for pills to dissolve in the stomach? I was really confused about none of the pills coming back up, but I'm also assuming my body got zero nutrients (or birth control protection) from them since I threw up within minutes.

No, but thank you! Maybe it is because I've been taking 2 Thermotabs at once instead of just 1? Just seems crazy it would happen so quickly but no pills would reappear.

Your question and situation is not disgusting at all, our bodies and how they work are not disgusting. Your idea to space the pills is a good one, since it seems that you have trouble with pills. Also, your assumption that you did not get birth control protection is an excellent assumption so if you are taking those pills not as a regulator but to prevent pregnancy you may want to consider using an additional method for the rest of this cycle.

If i was taking a pill or pills that made me heave, I'd just quit taking them at least for a while and add them back in 1 at a time for at least a week to see which one or combination was making me heave. The only one that seems remotely essential is the birth control pill and that is probably not the problematic one unless you recently changed the pill.

I'm guessing it's your thermotabs. I actually had to look up what they were, but K-Cl can cause nausea and vomiting.

I wouldn't really mess TOO much with potassium supplementation, as K is really the most dangerous of the electrolytes to get out of whack (IMO). I'm actually surprised that's allowed to be sold as a supplement, since most K require a prescription.

    Edit:
Also from Alex's link it says to discontinue thermotabs and consult your MD if you start having nausea.

Could be the thermotabs they are sodium pills and sodium can be used to induce vomiting. Leaned that when my dog ate a box of chocolates, spoonful of salt and instantly she threw it all up.

I thought this was going to be a post about pooping. Before I was low carb I was so acid refluxy that puking fails to phase me now

I've actually somehow thrown up whole meals prior to my last meal. I have no idea how, but selective purging is a thing, IMO. Bodies are weird. :p

Hah, after the Family Guy impression my husband did not long ago, I'm not sure much would phase me anymore. As if having a kid and dogs didn't already do that. :D

Glad nobody was totally grossed out! Did not take Thermotabs today and did not throw up. Think we found the culprit! I'll give myself a couple days away and then start back with just one and see how it goes. I struggle getting sodium up so those have been awesome for me. Just not sure why they started disagreeing with me yesterday, but gotta work with what I have going on.

Try one at a time, also maybe with a little food or some fat too help cushion it's impact

Your tummy's a keto filter - an evolutionary leap!

It could be the fact that your body is telling you it doesn't need the potassium, too....just FYI, most folks, without diagnosed low potassium, actually don't need to supplement it. It is one of the few things that generally we can get enough of when eating a low carb, real foods, varied diet. I know that if I even use lite salt, it will make me dump magnesium and get mad cramps like you wouldn't believe. I can only use it on high heat/activity/heavy sweating days...
