Saturday it was yet another cold rainy gray day and I trudged off to the gym astride my faithful steed/bike in all my rain gear. Depressing. Then up in that in that tall fir tree stood a bald eagle aside the wetland trail in the midst of suburbia. Made my day.
Other times its an unexpected compliment. How about you??

I'm really enjoying my "new" eyes. All the spring colors are just so intense and bright! It was 1 year ago that my eye doctor got the process going for me to have my cataract surgeries. I see him today for my annual checkup.

At times, I struggle with depression and anxiety. A few weeks ago, I gave myself the gift of going to counseling. In addition to some talk therapy, this counselor uses EMDR. I have never done that before, but I have to say it is amazing. It's not a permanent cure, but each session we've done that has had a really strong effect that has lasted for several days.

This is probably TMI, but roller derby changes your physique and "Roller derby booty" is often joked about at practices. Recently my significant other has noticed the physical change in my own body composition, and it makes me smile that my hobby is showing such awesome physical results. Definitely motivation to keep at it!

I have deepened my meditation and mindfulness practice recently, and I am noticing a much more even-handed approach to most aspects of my life - including food, diet, and activity.

I have suffered from periodic insomnia for years. I finally started seeing a psychologist for cognitive behavioral therapy, and I am seeing truly encouraging results. I don't sleep as long as I'd like, but my "sleep efficiency" is much improved, with less waking time, more consistent sleep hours. I'm very optimistic about future improvements.

Not really unexpected but my wife and I just hit our 35 year anniversary and my youngest daughter who lives at home with us still with our granddaughter just aced her finals and her next year of nursing school is been paid in full by a scholarship.

Those are bright spots that have broken up the hum drum

Nice all. I haven't heard of EMDr before. I did have some eye movement therapy for my traumatic brain injury and subsequent eye issues. I think it did help me some doing the movements I did.

Thinking about it.. I've had several recent ones.

Small victories in fitness levels which are adding up to noticeable levels:
Last night, at the end of my HIT is a final set of feet-raised pushups - I did double my expected set... because I could.

While working with a new sparring partner, I easily outmatched him in speed and endurance, which allowed me to focus on strategy, distance and timing, rather than just trying to keep up.

    Body changes:
Beginning to see my abs again.
Noticing that my love handles have shrunk.
My daughter noticing that I've lost weight, and not making fun of my gut anymore.
I snore a lot less (so says the DW).

I'm beginning to see my goals of returning to competition this year as something achievable - not just a pipe dream.
My daughter's has renewed interest in Taekwondo and wants to compete too.

And I think what is driving me a lot... I know that this is just the beginning. I still have another 28 lb to lose, my endurance and strength are still moving upward quite rapidly (still in early gains there), and my gut although smaller, still has a little overhang and muffin action going on.

I want to see the changes - I want to experience them. I want to live them.

    Anticipation is driving me forward.

Notice getting some nice comments about my WL lately. I assumed it's shedding the winter clothes for shorts and golf shirts.

Doing just about anything takes less out of me than it used to, and I do it more comfortably. I used to really dislike hot, humid weather. I still do, but way less now that I weigh less. B)

None of my clothes from this season last year fit me this year, so I'm getting lots of compliments on new outfits, etc. Just got my hair highlighted for summer, so that plus a new cut, also brings positive attention.

I'm wearing horizontal stripes for the first time in ... well, forever. And still look thinner than I did yesterday when I was wearing a solid color top that was too large for me.

I discovered coconut milk in my coffee instead of half and half.
I discovered Halo Top ice cream.
I discovered dang snacks, specifically cocoa-dusted coconut chips.
    I discovered Whisps cheese crisps.
And I got a new tank of propane for my grill, so that always makes cooking more fun!

The semester is over, so that alone feels great. Plus it means I'm getting all kinds of other things scheduled & taken care of, things that got put off because of school work. So, doctors appointments, roof cleaning, lawn care, half-finished quilting projects. I feel really great when I get so many things accomplished from my to-do list!
