Went out with the intention of running for an hour this morning to make my June goal. Unfortunately my hip started to feel sore after a little over 20 minutes and when I hadn't managed to run it off 5/6 minutes later I decided to walk home rather than risk an injury so got 30+ minutes of walking on top of 27 minutes running (of course it happened at pretty much the furthest point from home). Also did a very gentle 50 minutes on exercise bike watching TV this evening. Managing to make watching TV from the bike a pretty good habit, it's got to be better than the sofa.
Hip doesn't feel too bad so will give the hour run another go tomorrow as I won't get another chance until July and don't want to fail here as I'm pretty sure I'm going to fail on the 30 push ups in one set. Oh well, if you never fail at any of your goals you're not being ambitious enough.
Calories and tracking both good.
I hope all of you who have been feeling under the weather are improved today.8 -
@am_change I thought of you last night when my 23 year old daughter woke me up in the middle of the night. I thought OMG it's never over LOL and I am so tired. When I knew she was okay I was like and your calling why? We are in the lab and need you to pray this last test works . REALLY I was praying but I am sure it was for patience and for her to get to her car and home safely. I should call her and say good morning
Today is veggie man day with mom. I have a ton of errands to run today.
I found a home for my grandparents wedding gown and tux. Yes they still had them. The historical society wants them. Woo Hoo!!! My mom is so happy another thing out of mom's house. Even my uncle's are surprised I found a home for it. The best part is it would have made my grandparents so happy to know they are part of a museum. They loved museums.6 -

Exercised?: Yes. Walked 5km in 43 minutes (Hills).
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
Thanks for all the well wishes. It's been a good birthday so far. My wife succeeded in making a perfect pavlova (favorite desert - first success at it after a number of failures on previous attempts - yay). This was to compliment my favorite dinner (roast lamb). Sister and nephew over for dinner.
After tracking was surprised I was a still under.
I will catch up on all the other goings on in the group tomorrow. Family time tonight.8 -
@craigo3154 happy birthday to you!
@2020pinktogo happy vegetable hunting day
@aeshippers I watch a 45 minute show on my phone when I walk on my elliptical. Even a slow pace gets me in about 2 miles and it goes by so fast.
@RangerRickL do we have to sign up for July or so we roll over automatically?
Happy Saturday everyone. Going to get my workout in early so my day doesn't get away from me.3 -

@craigo3154 Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day!

@aeshippers I like your saying that if we never fail with our goals we are not being ambitious enough. Never thought of it that way! Very positive thinking! I hope you have better luck on your run tomorrow, good for you to not push it today though!

@2020pinktogo aaaaagh to the late night phone calls! Amazing news about the wedding outfits.
@pribud so pleased you're starting to feel a bit better.
@craigo3154 amazing that you stayed in your budgeted calories...but I don't think any of us expected you not to!
@aeshippers hope your hip improves quickly. Thanks for the wise words. It's true, failure is inevitable in life. We all need to learn to fail well, not fear it and develop resilience.
@Gus130 hope your treatment is going well. Chemo is barbaric eh. I remember the last time my dad had cancer about ten years ago how hard physical activity was. He's now a strong and fit 69 yr old who can still (and at my before baby better fitness levels!) beat me at squash and get to the top of a climb on our bikes before me. Yet with chemo, even on a good day would struggle on a short walk around the block. Your strength too shall return. Take care of yourself.3 -
yes times 3
my exercise today came in the form of 8 hours of gutting out my two sons rooms (not easy task let me assure you) .. two flights of stairs as they are in the loft space .. I am utterly shattered ... but on the plus side .. I found my purse ... now to find the motivation to clean the rest of the house.
logged and tracked .. my cals were VERY low today as I was busy .. so I am filling up with beer .. I have pre logged them and they are all sitting waiting to be drank
Hope everyone else has a great day ... walking will commence again tomorrow !!

Went to my usual road this morning. Not that scrabbly Colorado Trail road. But my usual scrabbly road. I felt a bit stronger than usual possibly because I had returned to a somewhat lower altitude. So I thought I was pushing harder but I didn't get any better of times. That's ok, I don't want to get too obsessive about it. There were some cars at the pullout when I got there. Trail runner girls. So they got some unknown amount of head start on me. It seems kind of odd that a bicyclist would consider running and biking to be comparable. But that road, climbing, is the great equalizer. So a runner and a biker can talk about the elusive ten minute mile and our game is more or less the same. ... on that road, climbing ...
Descending of course is not comparable. Except runner girl's husband. That guy is fast.
Him and I, we started the same one time. We went about a mile kind of yakking. Then we settle into our zones and he starts pulling away from me. He is pulling a ten minute mile and I am about 2 minutes slower. So after a while he is just plain gone. But he turns around at his distance goal and so I see him on his return. I say "where did you turn around at?" He says "six mile."
But for me six mile isn't 2,000 of climbing. So I go another half mile before I turn around. I got that 2,000 foot obsession. Top of the guard rail marks it.
So I go down. Bicycle going down is pretty quick. I keep thinking when am I going to catch him? Well I caught him before we got to the cars but not all that far from them. He had fallen. The side of his knee was bleeding. I wonder if he'd a beat me if not for that fall. He was running pretty dang hard to stay ahead of me.
A handful of vehicles went by me today. They were like suvs and light trucks. They go by me while I am in the 13%. Normally I stop and get to the edge for a vehicle to go by. But if I am in the 13% and I stop I can't get going again. Too hard to get a pedal stroke and subsequent inertia. So I go on the left side so that I am on the driver's side of the vehicle as he squeezes by.
So I also gave those vehicles the "clean" side of the road and I took the choppy and steep.
So this is kind of me showing off. These guys don't go by very fast. It isn't a fast road.
So I see them all parked at a trailhead and pass them back. I say "hi guys." But that is all the breath I can spare. They stand there staring at me as I go by. I think I could hear them thinking "whoa!"
Happy Birthday @craigo3154
@rangerrickl, 125 45 pound bales! Was that from the ground to up onto a truck? Higher and higher that work gets as the project progresses. Don't need a gym membership if you got work like that to do. Man o man!
I almost forgot to say 3x yes.
Oh and I am down a few pounds. Not to include too much vulgar detail but I kind of partially attribute that to colonoscopy preparation. Talk about a dietary reset. Ok, now I am empty!
