This is so true! I hate change, but we cannot get to be our best unless we choose to be uncomfortable during the transition!
Have a great day and week!!

Another gloomy day. I have to see how warm it is I may be switching my outfit. I have goosebumps and haven't gone out yet. There are a few of us that talk about walking to work. The problem is if we get to work and they send us on to the branch you need your vehicle. It happens a couple times a month. Why I would rather walk at lunchtime.5

Happy birthday @Dosse1320, hope you have a great day!
@srufus - congratulations on your great weight loss, even if it doesn't stay that low now new lowest weights are great motivation.
Really like your inspirational quote today Rick, it's so true.
I had a good day today. Started with a PB run, first time running 8km. Only 0.5k further than my previous best but still progress. Got some gardening done between rain showers and did a little pilates to stretch and wind down this evening.
Tracking was good and calories a long way under although still ate almost 20% of exercise back but that was mostly because my daughters were asking for banana bread so I made a chocolate one and then had to eat a slice of course, it was delicious. Home baking is something I find very hard to resist but I'm getting much better at stopping after one small piece.
Keep forgetting to share my goals for June so here goes
1. Be in the winner's circle
2. Lose over 2kg
3. Do 30 push ups without stopping
4. Run for an hour
5. Get my protein intake consistently over 85g

Happy birthday @Dosse1320.

Exercised?: Yes. Walked 3km+ in 27 minutes (Flat - further station).
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
Slight discomfort in left ankle while walking today, hopefully nothing serious. May have overdid it on the weekend. A couple of days of slightly easier walking (and more strength work) may see the discomfort go.
Work is ramping up again, so more trips into the city and less time to walk (maybe a good thing just at this moment).
@aeshippers Great goal list. Sure you will get to all of them.
It took me over 3 months to be able to do over 30 pushups without stopping. (@captainfantastic94 had a push up challenge last month.) Work at it and you will get there. (I have LOTS of tips on bodyweight exercise, just ask). However I don't think my knees could cope with running for the length of time you do (or even get close).

@aeshippers and @craigo3154 I do not have the body architecture for running, so I do lots of aerobic walking with my heart monitor. @aeshippers. Thanks for sharing your inspirational goal. That will help others to share their own personal goals. Written goals for more often met, especially when shared with the UAC team.
I started today feeling great. Did 30 minutes of very active stretching and then 28 minutes of intense Cardio/Strength Intervals. Heart monitor reports 210 calories of burn.
Have a great day!! Rick3 -
@Dosse1320 A big happy birthday to you, hope you have a fab day
@aeshippers I tried the 100 push up challenge (i need to do it again when I'm a little fitter) it done wonders for my upper arms and stomach area .. I never managed to reach the full 100 pushups in one go as I quit too early, but I did come from being unable to do one push up to being able to do 15 in a set. I can't find the web page to share with you but it was called "100 push up challenge"
@craigo3154 I hope your ankle is OK .. slow down a little, the last thing you need ot to go over on it (speaking from experience) I push through the pain and end up laid up for weeks when I go over on my very weak ankles lol
@RangerRickL great start to the day
I'm logging here early today because today was my weigh in and I have lost 1.4lbs this week yay!! now to work out a walking route

@aeshippers. my whole family did the challenge from: hundredpushups.com
I would highly recommend it! I started at only being able to do ten crummy push-ups to being able to do 100! You can print out exactly what to do over the month, and it is fun to do with your family. This was several years ago, and I have continued to do push-ups as part of my strength training. Definitely helps sculpt shoulder/triceps and also core. Plus you feel so strong! Push-ups are one of the best exercises ever.4 -
Happy birthday @dosse1320
Congratulations to you @aeshippers on your 8k PB.
It is way too early for me to be talking about closing the kitchen. But I just got out of the shower and did the weigh in so I got to ruminating philosophically.
I got two scales one of them is an analog spring scale. I like that one. the other one is digital and has a BMI function. The spring scale is 6 or 7 pounds friendlier than the digital, so guess who I like?
Today I weighed in heavier in spite of fiendish exercise. But I ain't displeased with what I see in the mirror. There are rolls and folds that are just plain gone. My body feels tight. I feel like a stiff spring.
I am trying to resist vanity. Are we doing this for vanity. There is a look that I want? Well sorry but yeah, kind of. I got pictures of me that I look at and say, yeah, that is the image I want.
I can also say never-mind that and remember what got me to making changes. How far back should I go?
The doctor visit? I went to the doctor I think it might have been 14 or so years ago. I had a disturbing cough but no symptoms of anything like a cold or flu. I had quit smoking a few years prior to that and I had this paranoia that vulture was coming home to roost.
So I was expecting a chest x-ray. Doctor said you need a blood test. I am all like what? What has blood got to do with anything?
I did it. Blood result came back indicating saturation with lipids. There was so much fat in my blood that my heart and lungs were choking on it.
Doc said this is on you. It is on you to fix this. You need to lose twenty pounds immediately, before I will even see you again. He told me if I didn't fix it the upshot would be that I didn't have to worry about saving for retirement. Yow!
So I ended up at Weight Watchers. That is a good program. I lost weight quickly initially. I lost 30 pounds in 30 days. I almost don't want to say that in front of you guys. But the clue here is that I was eating and drinking huge amounts of sugar. I worked an office job and ate lunch in restaurant every day. Lumberjack lunches.
I started riding my bike up a big hill for lunch. I would tell the guys "I am having a negative calorie lunch today." A couple of years later I got hooked on spin classes.
My life is different now. I am different.
I have returned to doing the stuff I used to do when I was a kid. I used to ride a bicycle everywhere. I used to spend winter months "planning" hiking trips and backpacking trips.
I would milk all kinds of enjoyment getting ready and then doing it.
That is who I am back to. My vacation planning includes physical preparation for the activities I have planned. I work out to prepare for my vacation. I contrast that with my last cruise vacation. I gained ten pounds. I was already fat. I liked sitting on the beach and watching all of the trim bodies go by. I was pretty much embarrassed to wear a swimsuit or take my shirt off. Back to vanity. I ain't no bathing beauty but I can do the things I loved doing as a kid.
Backpacking - put a tent or a plastic tarp, a sleeping bag, long pants, short pants, raincoat, hat and all of my food for a couple of three days. Concise dietary planning to include exercise expenditures. Ain't no going to convenience store for an ice drink. Can't eat outside of the meal plan. I will run out of food. I usually lose weight when I am camping.
I am getting psyched up for some climbing. I think I will go tomorrow.

Weigh in day today and I am down .6 of a pound new total 23.8pounds! WOOHOO YAY ME!!! I still have 10 days to go before my surgery and I am only 1.2lbs away from my goal........I CAN DO THIS!
@Dosse1320 Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday dear Dosse, Happy birthday to you
@aeshippers you continue to amaze me, love your goals for the month. You and @phoebelayla inspire me so much. I use to be a marathon walker, not sure if I will ever see those days again but I am determined to see more speed walking in my future.....my longest marathon was 63k's(my husband still thinks that is why I am in the predicament I am today...lol) and that was only 5 years ago!
@RangerRickL love your inspirational poster for the day! You are such a blessing to us!
@craigo3154 hope your ankle heals quickly!
@bocasdelbobdog WOW! What a journey you have had.........AMAZING!
@Slimpossible007 & @GardenMama129 what a great addition to our team! Love all your positive feedback and so looking forward to sharing your journey with you.
@EVERYONE WE ARE ROCKING THIS!
Will check in later with my positive results! My kitchen just opened a few hours ago so will not close for hours yet..........LOL.......who am I kidding most of my downfalls do not happen in MY kitchen as I am the one in Control there...lol
6 -
It's only 8.10pm here, but I'm declaring the kitchen closed with 123cals remaining.
Yes X3 for me today. I got a good 47mins and 5.5k of interval running/walking today. My runs are getting longer and the walking is getting shorter. I can't believe the difference a week has made.
@pribud a glass of water, 8oz, is half a pound so 1.2lbs is just a couple of glasses of water!
@Dosse1320 Happy 40th birthday to you
@RangerRickL love your inspirational quotes. Thanks for setting up this group.
Anyone I haven't mentioned, I am reading all your posts. That's me clicking on the like/awesome/inspirational buttons! I wish I could click on them all for each post. You are all keeping me going and I love checking in each day.
I should post some goals here, I suppose. I really am aiming to complete the challenge.
Overall, I have 35lbs to loose to put me in the middle of my BMI. I need to get there to have an operation. Once the consultant said that to me I was triggered into binge eating. The operation has been put off, but I'm in pain and discomfort and I want ti get it done soon. So I have to balance a healthy lifestyle, weightloss and keeping the bulumia at bay. Goals that are figures or targets can trigger me. So, this sums up my goals:

Quick question.....are our exercise calories included in our daily allotment or is that considered going over if we use them? I haven't, don't have any plans to, but just wanted clarification "just in case".3
-
walked 1.02 Miles in 22 mins, a slow pace for me, I normally walk over 3.2mph on the flat, but today I'm not feeling well, so I forced myself out of the door!!
you can all expect the minimum from me over the next few days because its all my body will give! it actually wants to sit here and eat chocolate and ice-cream till I drown ... but its not getting that
Hubby was too tired tonight so he refused to go ..
The only reason I got out was because I am being held accountable so TY for that everyone
late dinner tonight, as once again there was an extra mouth at the table which meant I had to change my meal last minute.
toast (with home made bread) bacon and runny egg topping won the day .. yum!
Hope everyone else's day is going well
June 5th
Exercised?: Yes. minimum of 22 mins a slow walk

I wondered that too @debodom1962 I decided to try not to use my earned cals, except on the tougher days (like events, meals out, Pmt). I believe one will still loose weight if one eats all cals earned, it will just be slower weight loss. Im not sure if eating earned cals is against the UAC rules though.2 -

It is your choice if you use your exercise calories. Some people chose to or need to, some don't, and some vary depending on the activities and special events. :-)5 -
I have been reading the posts, but finally had time to really go through the last few days again. I am so impressed with all of the hard work and positive attitudes on our team. It is truly inspiring.
@Dosse1320 - I hope you had a happy happy B-day!
@craigo3154 - take care of that ankle and make sure it heals well :-)
@pribud - Great to hear that you have lost that weight and will be (yes, you will be!) going into surgery having lost what you planned to.
When not working this weekend, spent my time at the emergency vet hospital. One of my cats had significant worsening of her breathing. Turns out, she has tumor in her larynx and it is most likely cancer, though the biopsy results won't be back for a few days. She was stabilized, and given steroid to decrease some of the swelling in her airway, so she is a little more comfortable. Needless to say, my family and I are very sad right now. I was so upset last night and knew that eating junk was not going to make anything better. I jumped on my bike and biked as hard as a could for an hour. Didn't make the sadness go away, but I think it helped some. My legs were wrecked this am. A good wrecked. Anyway, don't want to bring anyone down or dwell on it here, just mentioning it because I know it means I need to be more vigilant with emotional triggers for eating right now.5 -
@phoebelayla I'm so sorry about your cat. It's as hard with fur kids as it is with our two legged kids. Hugs to you.2

@phoebelayla I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. Pets truly are as much a part of the family as anyone else in our homes. Thoughts and prayers!
@RangerRickL Thanks for the reminder! Comfort zones are danger zones in disguise.
Exercise: Yes! My calves were so sore this morning from Saturday's jumping jacks, etc. (btw, don't do jumping jacks barefoot on wood floors) that I was going to settle for just a quick walk. But it was such a drizzly, dreary, lightning-free day that I had to go for a run in it. I love running in the rain, as I find it to be the best running weather for my endurance, so I got in 40 minutes with 11 minutes of warm up/cool down. I could have kept going but it started getting truly dark.
Calories: Yep
Tracked: Yes, and apparently my camomile tea has calories! Who knew?
