Zoodles Spiralizer

So I'm finally game to get on the spiralizer bandwagon. Reading lots of conflicting reviews. Anyone have a zoodle maker? Do you like it? What brand should I look for? Tips or advice? Opinions? Figured you guys would be the ones in the know. Recipe favs?

I got a cheap handheld one from Amazon while I played with recipes initially. Now I have the Kitchen Aid stand mixer attachment. Both were pretty great although the cheap manual one grazed my knuckles a few times and could be hard to clean.

I have and use one of the handheld pencil sharpener-type ones, Vegetti brand I think. It works fine, but I could see how if you were wanting spiralized stuff multiple times per week, there would be benefit to one of the crank ones. But the small one is nice because it goes in the drawer with my other random stuff like lime squeezer, etc., and doesn't need as much space as a countertop version would.3

Someone sent me this recipe. It sounds delicious, esp the almond crunch. I can think of lots of uses for that. Can't wait to try it. Be careful, because often the seller is selling just one glove, which actually, when you think of it, makes sense: You wear it on the vulnerable hand, because the other one is holding the handle, and shouldn't be affected by the business end...!
I was expecting a PAIR of gloves and received one, which I initially thought was a bit of a con, but I hadn't read the advertising blurn properly, and frankly, wearing two gloves is awfully cumbersome! So it does make sense!
You may find one on an online hardware supplier, or a catering firm, who may specialise in meat prep....

You might look in the sporting dept. near the fillet knives.

I was gifted a spiralizer with several attachments. I only use the "spaghetti" attachment, but do love the ease of the crank. We have zoodles up to 4x/week.
My favorite is zoodles with some kind of spicy smoked sausage, peppers/onions and pesto. Or zoodles with stroganoff.2 -

Our family used to eat pasta five days a week. I haven't had spaghetti in ages! I can't wait to try it. I hope it turns out well. I'm trepidatious only because I've been so disappointed before (cauliflower rice and mashed taters are not liked at all!). We'll see! Fingers crossed! Zoodles with sausage sounds wonderful....

I have three different spiralizers, I have the hand held but I don't like the little log left over that I can't slice. Then I have a different hand held one but it's so hard to stand and turn the zuchini thru it,so I bought a big starfrit one that you crank. Better, but it is big and bulky for storage. Now, there is a new electric one from starfrit that looks like a bullet. I want it.. I can't possibly rationalize getting it.. yet.1

Yeah. The Kitchen Aid attachment is $72! Yikes.
That's why I'm gonna buy the $10 Vegetti first. But I'll set a weight goal and buy the other as a self-award I think, if I like zoodles. I wish I could find them already zoodled at my grocery store but I've never seen them. Bummer.0 -
M&S sell them, together with ready-zoodled butternut squash..... god they're good.....0

I see zucchini noodles and butternut squash noodles very so often at my local grocery (Metro.ca) but they're pricey and I'm not fond enough of them to pay the premium.2 -

Marks & Spencer is a U.K chain I think. I'm in Ontario. Metro is a chain here, based out of Quebec I beleive.1 -

M&S is massive.... the branch I work at opened in 1933..... I wasn't there though.....

The little I know about Britain I learned from watching Last of the Summer Wine, Doc Martin and The Detectorists.

I tossed my Vegetti, it was just to hard to get the noodles right, to clean it and I almost cut myself every time I tried to use it. Waste of money IMHO. The Oxo Good Grip that is held in place by a suction cup, you turn and it has 3 blades, one for spaghetti size, one for linguine size, and a straight one. I now make Alfredo linguine low carb style. Hubby LOVES it. It is so easy and cleans up quickly. Mine was $30. And it will get used several times a week because of the variety of cuts it will do.3 -

This is the one I got, and I absolutely love it! Easy to use, dishwasher safe, and makes three different cuts of noodles.
My favorite ways to eat zoodles are with keto alfredo sauce (tossed with bacon), or with Thai peanut sauce (stir-fried with snow peas, mushrooms, and chicken).1 -

I've got this one. Not the best, but does the job and takes up little space. It can be deadly for your hands, but it works.
It's a good one to try if you're not sure you're gonna like the recipes/use it.

How many zucchinis do you find you need to make a decent serving size? Just feels like it would take a ton.0

It has three different blades and my much-abused little pinkies are relatively safe. It attaches to the counter top with four suction cups, which I'm guessing will be the first parts to go bad. In the meantime it's easy to use and effective.
It looks pretty goofy, I have to admit. My husband's comment was that if the Mattel Toy folks ever come out with a Marie Antoinette Barbie Doll this thing will be the perfect accessory.1 -

My DH and I split a medium spiralized zucchini or summer squash for one meal. So it would depend on how many you're cooking for.2 -

The zucchini I usually buy are about 8 ounces. Smallish but larger than baby zucchini. I usually spirilize the whole thing for 8 calories, 7 carbs. I use the spirilize only when I'm making a pasta dish for my husband.1 -
Good to know! Don't know why I felt like it would take several zucchinis to make enough for one person!1
