Based on the film we watch, "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead"
1. Identify 3 advantages of drinking your calories.
2. What are some drawbacks, or things to consider when taking part in a diet plan such as this?
3. Who would be a candidate for the 60-day challenge?
4. What is likely missing from this type of diet?

Doing some research and thinking on your own, answer the following questions.
5. Explain the idea behind "calories in<calories out" for weight loss.
6. How do the principles from question 6 make it easy to develop a FAD DIET?
7. How could a healthy young person such as yourself take advantage of juicing?

    1. Its very healthy for you to cut all other foods from your diet and just blend up fruits & veggies for every meal, everyday, for a couple months then you would loose over 30 pounds. Another advantage would be that its all fresh fruits & vegetables instead of frozen factory made pizzas and frozen burgers and fries. 3rd advantage would be the amount of fruits and vegetables to choose from to add into your drinks each meal you can always mix it up a bit.
    2. Some drawbacks would be the first couple days into the diet and I would be missing my ice cappuccinos and cereal in the morning so it would take some getting used to, But another thing to consider when taking part in a diet plan like this would be to visit your family doctor to make sure this diet would be right for you.
    3. I mean if I had the money to go out and choose what fruits and veggies I could blend up and drink for the next 60 days, I feel like I would be able to do such a thing, as long as I could add yogurt to my fruit and veggie blends.
    4. Some sort of grains to add to your diet maybe, nothing like white bread... but maybe like 1 slice of organic multi-grain bread per week or something?
    5. See, everything we eat and drink contains calories. With the exception of obvious stuff like water, all foods and drinks contain some amount of calories and go on to make up our daily calorie intake. Since these are the calories being consumed and therefore taken in by your body, they are commonly referred to as our “calories in.” On the other hand, everything we do burns calories. They are what our bodies use for energy to do everything we need to do.
    6. It could turn into a FAD Diet if the person doing this diet was going a bit too far and going out of control with it to the point that they're loosing too much weight and not transitioning back onto solid foods ever again.
    7. A young person such as myself can take full advantage of this type of diet as long as they talk to their doctor first and know what they are getting themselves into.

    1) three advtanges of drinking your calories are a) you can get them down quick and easy, you are drinking instead of chewing and eating b) you can decide what you would like in your shakes, you have lots of healthy choices c) it helps you lose weight quickly and safely.

    2) some draw backs of this diet are that you can become VERY hungry. it takes a week and a bit for your body to get used to it so you are hungry all the time. A lot of people become "Hangry" from this diet.

    3) Anyone is a candidate for this diet. Fat, skinny or healthy anyone can do this cleanse and it is supposed to help for ALL body types.

    4) What is missing from this diet are grain products and meat and alternatives. You are getting 0 grains and very little protein. Something that would be an easy add is 1 piece of whole wheat toast with peanut butter every morning. You are getting your protein and your grains.

    5) If you burn more calories than you eat, you will lose weight. If you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight.

    6) These principles can cause a fad diet because the idea of "not eating can help you lose weight" which is an unhealthy way to lose weight, the healthy way is to BURN the calories off instead of starving yourself. work out more than you eat but still make sure you EAT. and are eating properly.

    7) a healthy young person like myself could take advantage from juicing to make sure that I am getting all the nutrients I need. Having one juice a morning could help wake a teenager up, help them have more energy and help them get all the nutrients they need to be healthy and grow.
