I tend to be a lurker at the minute, I was very active last year but having a few issues that are restricting my LC intake at the minute - but will definitely be jumping back in fully when these are sorted - I love this forum and everyone is just so friendly and helpful3

Yes, this group is certainly a life-line for me. Even when I completely blew off my progress, I still managed to log on to read and read...which eventually jogged my fuzzy brain- reminding me of why I originally chose this path/change/lifestyle. I am very grateful for those who've shared their experiences, opinions, successes, and laughs. Thank you all!
I am slowly warming up to posting more often3 -
I spent the first year after T2D diagnosis struggling to find good quality science based information and made some progress.
Finding this group set me on a path of learning more in the first month than I had in that previous year.
I've been in this group close to 9 months now. I have used info here to help me find rabbit holes on all aspects of health and nutrition. No offense to anyone here, but I don't take anything here as gospel truth but rather use it to guide my research into scientific studies.
I try to share what I learn but don't expect anyone to take my posts as gospel. That is why I post links to so many science journal articles and studies so others can get the information first hand for themselves.
Knowledge is NOT power. Power comes from taking action based on that knowledge.7 -

Ooh, I like that!2 -
hmmm...interesting take on lurkers in the forum. I never thought about that. There are obviously some of us who are regular posters and commenters (you know who you are!). But yeah, I never thought of all those who pop in and never say anything. No reason to be shy here!0

I can be a lurker.. I'm fairly new so "lurking" is a way to get the lay of the land - and then I post when I feel I have something to contribute. Most of the time I feel like I'm too new to contribute much of anything. Also - introverted by nature, so observing is far more comfortable for me. Having said that, I appreciate this forum very much - it's informative, inspiring, and motivating - and sometimes quite funny! So even though I lurk, I am not without my appreciation!5

The amount of information available in this group borders on overwhelming at times. It's interesting that, while I was sort of peripherally aware of this WOE for the last few years, I didn't realize the depth and breadth of research that's gone on in the last decade or so.
Many of us have attached ourselves to some sort of a lifestyle mentor who regularly shares insights and information, and while there are some differences in the application and details, a mammoth amount of information gets aggregated in this community. If your particular guru has missed an important point, there's likely someone around here listening to another really smart and well informed source to bring it to your attention.
I think that's what makes this place so valuable for me, that there's always a skeptic around here. There's always a willingness to check and re-check sources, there's disagreement on some things, but largely, it's done in a respectful way, and generally, where we have disagreements, they're founded on data rather than on opinion. There is no answer that won't be scrutinized. What we've all learned here is that kool-aid is poison whether you're drinking it literally or metaphorically, and that nothing we believe about health, now or tomorrow, should be taken as gospel.7 -

@Just_Eric I wish I could take credit for that. I heard that in a training about 15 or 16 years ago and it stuck.1

Well put Eric. I am a thankful member for the informative contributors.1
