NSV Bucket List Item Achieved

I took a kayak lesson on Saturday! I put getting into a kayak on my Bucket List a couple years ago after I had lost 100#. I was still too big but it was a goal to shoot for. Last year I backed out because of knee surgery but now at 209# I felt I could try.
The Parks & Rec program uses LARGE two person kayaks for the lessons. So it was not the little one man with legs inside like I had pictured in my mind.
I did not capsize, I had fun, my legs are sore from how I sat with legs straight out in front of me, and I will try it again in one of there small rental kayaks.

Nice. I like kayaking but with a huge gut, it is very difficult. Looking forward to doing it again when I am around the weight you are now. Congratulations on your bucket list NSV!!0

Woo HOO! Very cool!
Kayaking is one of the things I want to do too. My brother has a couple of them, so I may have to take lessons this summer.0 -
@goldenfrisbee the bulk of my remaining weigh seems to be a spare tire of flab and skin around my gut too. Provides a constant reminder that there is No Finish Line.

Fun indeed!!! Reminds me of a rafting trip I was on in the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho wilderness (do I really have "sucker" tatooed to my forehead....guess so). They let folks including some of the easy going ladies float along in the plastic kayaks on the gentle water stretches. One night they came to me and said "how would you like to take the plastic kayak tomorrow over Tappan Falls (class III or class IV depending on flow). They had me scout out the falls ahead of time and guaranteed that if I missed the exact spot on a tongue of water out in the river I would go to the bottom of the river not once but twice. YIKES. Like I say I am the ole kid with the sucker tattoo on the forehead. I said "sure" . It is impossible even with scouting to figure out how to get this plastic kayak into the right place on the river when I was looking in the kayak at river level. Here goes!! I head off down the river and had the OMG feeling that I totally missed my spot. YIKES!!! And then I headed off over the falls and by some miracle was the only one who hit the precise spot on the tongue of cascading water fall. I went through without incident. The "pro's" (or wannabes) with the fancy expensive kayaks all tumbled. Every one of them. Sometimes no amount of skill or planning will beat pure dumb luck. WHEW!!
Oh and I never claimed to be a kayaker or had training either.1
