Anyone regret WLS?

I'm 6 weeks post-op and wish I had done it sooner. HOWEVER, the first few days, I wasn't sure how I was going to make it through the first week, let alone forever. My tastebuds changed so much, I couldn't choke down water. But then you figure out a sugar-free way to get fluids in you. Then you figure out how to get full fluids, then pureeds, then softs, then forever.

It's a bit stating the obvious, but you have to take it one sip, one hour at a time. Do the research (with more than just public opinions), pick an excellent surgeon who has more than just the surgical services---the follow-up care forever is SO IMPORTANT, and listen to your surgeon's office (which should also include a registered dietician --not a nutritionist--the difference is 4 years of study and degree as opposed to a much shorter, less stringent certification program) when they tell you what you should and shouldn't eat/drink forever.

You are right, it is mental. You have to want it enough to stay committed to it. Forever.

It's still the best decision I have ever made for myself and my overall health because I am ready for forever changes to the ways I was looking after myself and my health before (which all failed until now).

I think a lot of people early on after having vsg struggle with some very serious regret. I don't mean regret as having the surgery but regret that they spent so many years being so overweight and missing out on a lot of things. In that way, regret is a horrible thing. And I've decided that I'm going to move on with my life and just be happy that I finally did it when I did. I can't go back in time and have it earlier so I've decided to be happy now and for the rest of my life. Best physical decision I have ever made

I'm 4 years out from sleeve surgery and I never regretted my decision for a minute. Like other posters have said, I wish I'd done it years earlier. Do lots of research and decide if WLS is right for you. In the end, your opinion is the only one that matters. Best of luck.

I highly recommend Dr. Michael Snyder with Denver Bariatric Center at Rose Medical. He had a great pre-op seminar. He spent nearly 40 mins with me during my initial consult answering all my questions. He gave honest direct answers...but also made it clear that I needed to be comfortable with my decision. There was no high pressure sales.
