Morning after carbs

So, I've been doing pretty good keeping carbs under 50g at most, averaging closer to 15g.
But last night I was up till 3am working on a client's computer and fell into my old late night carb routine. Ate cereal, fruit loops, more than a serving, just the one bowl of milk. Ya know, the keep adding long as I got moisture....
Anyway, I got up this morning determined not to beat myself up and just jump back into what I know works for my BG. I haven't lost but a pound in 3 weeks, but sugars are damn near perfect, figured weight would get there as I became accustomed.
Well, I stepped on the scale to see how much damage I did, and I'm down 2 pounds... WTAF does that mean? Like, does anyone know why I would be down the day after doing carbs up and over my calorie goal when I wasn't losing at deficit with minimal carbs?
Headed to the kitchen to get my eggs and bacon on, cause my FBG was back up to 116 this morning and that ain't gonna cut it.

Some of it may have to do with being up half the night. Some may have to do with the fact you haven't lost for 3 weeks and it was time. Could be part of the reason some folks refer to the scale as a liar but I contend weight is weight and just a moment in time. Hopefully the 2 pounds won't be back tomorrow. You may have been less hydrated than usual. Good for you for getting back on track this morning. That's what is most important. Hope you got the computer fixed and slept in. And there's another possibility You maybe weighed at a different time of day. :)

Water is fast, fat is slow. When it comes to weight loss. There is a delay, overnight up? Water retention. Sudden drop in weight? Results of things you have been doing day in, day out.

Just enjoy the drop. And get the sugar back under control and carry on.

Honestly? I'm so wet at this, I haven't got a clue. It happened to me too... we had a 'brand new selection of weird chocolate flavours' at work the other day. I ended up eating - er... I mean, testing - 6 chocolates - unheard of, for me, and I too, thought to myself "Damn, I'm gonna pay for this tomorrow!" And lo and behold - I was down nearly 2 lbs!!

I figured, "Hey body, I'm glad YOU know what you're doing, because I'm totally stumped, here!" and left it at that.

Sometimes, accepting things with no clear and evident reason, can be just the ticket. An occasional mystery does us no harm, and letting the body's amazing mechanisms do their thing, is the way to go.

What I'm hearing is that I should Not start eating cereal on Friday nights to keep the scale moving.
Lol it was probably a combination of all these great ideas, and I'll take it gladly whatever the cause!

I think I might start taking those progress pics though, so I can avoid the lying scale a bit more ;)

I get weird scale dips like that too. Restrict calories tightly and barely lose and then have an unrestricted calorie weekend and the scale drops a few pounds. I've had the same thing with carbs happen to me too.

But then again I've had big whooshes while staying on plan too. I think it helps to keep the body guessing so I will often mix up my menu. It seems to help.

The scale bounces around, who knows why. When I was actively losing I'd often find I lost after a more indulgent evening (wasn't really low carbing, so can't speak to that). I think it's possibly that if you've been stressed and then release it (could even be finish a project) or restricting hard and then relax, cortisol drops and so does weight. Maybe. What I think is more likely is that there's no rhyme or reason to the bounces (unlike the overall downward direction) and I just happened to take more note of the losses after an indulgent evening since they were a nice surprised. Just how coincidences are common but people get tempted to over explain them.

I also felt like my weight would hold steady longer when I was just above a new decade (bouncing at 140-141, waiting to hit 139 or the like). I bet if I really checked that I'd find it was no different than other weight changes but I just noticed it more often/it stuck in my mind more.

The scale is up and down all the time. There's really no reason to think what you did the day before had any effect on the loss the scale showed you. Stuff takes longer than that.

I was another pound down this morning! So maybe this is just one of these whoosh episodes I keep hearing about. I'll keep on running with it. Tonight i cooked up hamburger patties, drumsticks, ground beef, and chicken breast strips. So i am ready for this week!
