Hey There!
My name's Marissa, and I've been on and off of MyFitnessPal for years. I've struggled with my weight since I was a kid, and it's time to lose the weight for good!
In my early twenties, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I got no real information about it from my doctors, and as a young person, I didn't really care. By my mid twenties, I was at my heaviest (320... yikes) and became curious about how my weight and the PCOS were connected (they are in a HUGE way!), and started a low carb diet and light exercise, and in three months, I'd lost 60lbs! I plateaued for a while, and by 27, I picked up the paleo diet, and lost another 40lbs! I started going to the gym every single day for about two years. After all of that, I was down 110lbs total.
I started to coast once I hit my lowest. Stopped going to the gym every day, which eventually slipped to not going at all. I was eating whatever I wanted and not caring. That led to weight gain, of course! Now, at 30, I'm back up 70lbs from my lowest, and I'm ready to do something about it.
I started on Monday of this week (newly 30!) with following a low carb, high protein diet, and building up my exercise slowly, I've already lost 10lbs, and I'm ready to stick with it and make it a lifestyle. I have the support of my incredible boyfriend, my inspirational best friend (he just lost 130lbs in a YEAR!), and the motivation to make this happen. I figured a bit of extra support from the MFP community couldn't hurt
Now that you know my whole life story (ha!), I look forward to connecting, and giving/receiving support with you all. We all know this is tough, so let's make this a bit easier together!
See you out there!
Marissa

Hi Marissa, welcome to your 30's! I'm new here to the boards on MFP too but was poking around and saw your post, I have a couple of friends with PCOS so I know what a battle it can be, good for you on making lifestyle changes!1

What's PCOS and how does it effect your weight? Hormonal? I'm a constant yo-yoer so I know the struggle. This is the first I've actually counted calories and tracking everything you eat can be slightly annoying I've found it's extreme helpful. Keep up the good work!1

Thanks @GoBlue1981! That means a lot
@DadBod37 PCOS is a syndrome where women grow little cysts on their ovaries which cause hormone imbalances. There are many symptoms, and one of them is that weight can be very difficult to lose. The low carb lifestyle works best for me--I'm counting carbs first, and calories second. You're right, it can be SO annoying to have to remember to do it, but it's a big eye opener, isn't it?!
Good luck to both of you! I'll be seeing you around the forums0
