Happy Monday, ladies. Hope your weekend was good. Mine was a lot of physical work opening the cabin for the season with lots of cleaning and yard clean up, raking and bending, etc. I'm sore in places I never usually feel, especially lower back. Then today I had my trainer, and she wasn't nice to me even though I was already sore. That which doesn't kill me . . right?
I'll be back for my weigh in on Wednesday.

Waiting for new software to load to my work computer and thought I'd pop in to tell on myself and see if I can get in a better mood. I'm fighting the "eff it!" feeling. Yesterday, my weight had dropped from the 143.2 of last week back to 142.0, and I felt that watching intake more carefully since then was yielding the desired results. Then this morning, I checked and was back to 143.0. There are days when I wonder if struggling so much is worth it. But then I know that if I wasn't struggling, I'd be back to or above my starting point.0

Ladies, something is wrong, wrong, wrong. My net calories for the past 7 days averaged 1183 and I managed to get through the week with no sweets. My steps were not great, but I've found that the deciding factor is always the intake. So I'm fighting that anger that I feel when it seems something is out of control and I'm scared. Fear. Always masquerades as anger for me.
I have also been fighting fatigue that is beyond just tired. My 90-day thyroid check is coming up Monday, but my level has been pretty steady for more than a decade, so I really don't expect to see much there. However . . .
The good thing is that I have the courage to put the weight here, and I have the good sense to admit it when I'm off the beam emotionally. Now if I can get through the business day without saying something snarky to one of my coworkers (I have a couple trying to shirk their duties), then I may be okay.

Meh. I had a high sodium day yesterday. (Our date day is Tuesday every week) We saw "Wonder Woman" at my request, and I had some popcorn that was pretty salty and a diet soda. By the way, it's a pretty good movie. I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing, and hope for a better number next week.
Sarah, I'm betting your thyroid is off. The fatigue doesn't sound like you. And fatigue will bring your mood down with your energy. Glad you're getting it checked soon. And hopefully hubby's neck pain will ease soon so you can get a break. Is he getting a second shot?
Lois, I'll head over to Facebook now to see what kind of week you're having.0 -
I'm almost hoping it's my thyroid as that's pretty easily adjusted, but if memory serves me correctly, I hit one of these low energy spells where everything seems out of whack once before and my thyroid was fine. It's hard for me to believe that my previous family doctor let me walk around with a TSH of 10 for years. Now they try to keep it around 2, although it often goes up to 4-5 range. But never 10! No wonder I gained weight and felt so drained. And yes, hubby has a second shot scheduled for Tuesday morning. I am sooo hoping this one gives him more relief. Sheesh, I know that you can relate because of your hubby, and of course, Lois, you're dealing with this yourself.
The past three nights, I've walked in the mall by myself, since we've been in the mid to upper 90's with high humidity. It's like living in a swamp. For whatever reason, my walking buddy is not available now, but I the way I met her was walking by myself, so I can do that again.
Sheesh, we don't have date nights. When you both telework, you need a date night to get away from each other! LOL0 -
TSH of 10? That's crazy. I hope you can figure out why you're feeling fatigued, although upper 90's and humid is fatiguing for sure! Lately, I'm on a 3 cups of coffee a day kick. I'm going to have to cut that back.
I can relate to the neck and pain issues. I really feel for anyone suffering with that. Sometimes hubby just has to lay down and nap or at least rest his head off his neck to get relief, especially after exerting himself. I really hope your hubby and Lois can find relief.
I had my trainer this morning, and am off to get a walk done now. She worked my legs hard, so if I can get 10K walking, that's it for me today.
Do I ever know about needing to get away from each other, lol! I guess I've never told you about our "schedule", ha ha. When hubby first retired (I was already retired. . early because I had to get out of the family business to save my sanity) I was anxious about us being together too much. I expressed my fear to my cute DIL, who is a family therapist. She sent us some books to read prior to his retiring. We sat down to talk and set a loose schedule, and it's really been great. We have days we work on household chores together, Tuesdays are a date day we take turns planning, Wednesdays are my day out (we actually decided that on our day we MUST leave the house for a while so the other person can have it to themselves). Thursdays are his day out. (He has a golf group for the summer, but he MUST leave the house even if no plans to golf.) We've stuck pretty closely to the schedule for about 2 years now, and it's working great! I've heard horror stories from friends about their retired husbands who never go away, want to do everything together, want to do nothing together, ask them where they're going and when they'll be back, sit on the sofa all day watching tv, etc. We decided we were not going to be like that. We'd kill each other, lol! So far, so good. We actually argue rarely, and less than before we retired. Also, the last person out of the bed has to make it. He always does the dishes and I always do the laundry. Mostly I cook, but sometimes he doesn't want my "diet" food, and gets or prepares his own. Also, I will never not have my own car, ha ha!

I certainly see why articles I've read lately say that we have to take fitbit stats with a grain of salt. Last night, I fell asleep on the sofa attempting to watch "Alone" with hubby. Probably fell asleep around 10:15 p.m. Got up a little after 11 p.m., did a few nighttime tasks then went to bed around 11:45. Was wide awake then, so I watched the repeats of Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell from midnight until 2 a.m. During that time, I got up twice and went downstairs to get water and to find out what Teddy was meowing about. And because of that big bottle of water, I woke up twice for bathroom trips during the night. This morning, I got up a little after 7:30.
Fitbit says that I sleep solid from 10:16 until 7:36 this morning. Well no. Or else I would have woken up on the sofa, in my clothes with my contacts in, the kitchen would still have dishes in the sink, and my computer would be on! To top it off, I know I have been up and down the stairs three times since midnight counting going down this morning and back up to my office, but yet fitbit says I have one flight of stairs.
So I guess you can use the information for a guesstimate, but no way that it's fully accurate. And yep--it's fully charged and I have had it on my arm the whole time.0 -
Ok..so not the most successful of weeks for me...AGAIN!!
I made it to PT on Tuesday, and I worked out on Wednesday. Unfortunately, had a work emergency this am and needed to be in the office ASAP and had to cancel PT for this morning. I really really need it today for the weekend. Ah well, can't change what transpired. Meal consumption did not go as planned either. To me, the chicken tasted funny, so I didn't eat it and then we had meetings that got moved into the lunch hour so sandwiches were brought in (no requests of what to order, they just ordered a variety and we picked what was there). That was Wednesday and yesterday. Ugh. Today, with being called at 0 stupid 30 this morning (actually I was dressed and ready to leave for PT when I had to quickly change into work clothes and get on the road while on the phone with IT and internet provider.) FORGOT my workout clothes in case I was able to get a later PT appointment (I hate going to PT in work clothes and sandals - but I would have if I'd been able to get back in). AND forgot my lunch, brought my lunch bag, but alas, it was EMPTY of food.PBJ sandwich today as I'm typing.
So there's my Happy Friday....
Toggling with training tomorrow morning since I wasn't able to get therapy from the last workout and we're hosting a brunch on Sunday for Father's Day. I really want to because my legs are feeling the workout - YEAH. Nervous as I don't want to be in too much discomfort on Sunday.
Sarah - I earn insurance points towards gift cards for various activities using the Fitbit app. One of those is to sleep 7 hours a day. I would LOVE for your numbers. This past week they have been 6 hrs and 50 something minutes. Last night - 6:56 REALLY?!?!?!? UGh. 25 points gone.
Sheesh - I LOVE your schedule that you've come up with. That's pretty amazing and I'll have to remember that if/when we retire. Though four day weekends, I sometimes feel that way if we aren't booked with activities. And I LOVED Wonder Woman, and I wasn't sure I was going to when I went. Gal Gadot really did an amazing job and the innocence she portrayed was incredible. And like you, I need to get off the coffee kick. One 20 oz a day, but it's leaded and I need to get back to decaf and eventually off of it...but it tastes soooo good. Yesterday was a triple shot of espresso and I felt it when I went to go to bed...took just a bit longer to fall asleep.0 -
Don't envy my sleep hours, Lois. I am actually getting about 5 to 6 hours most nights. I can't figure out why the fitbit says that I'm asleep when I'm doing dishes and cleaning litter boxes!!0
-
OH NO!!! Not your ACTUAL sleep hours...just want my FB to reflect at least 7 (preferable a REAL 7 hours to boot, but right now I won't be picky).0
-
I hear you. And when I get a chance, I'll be back to chat a bit. Went out earlier with friends who sere celebrating 37 year anniversary. We just got back and I have a couple of things I have to do. Get some sleep tonight my friend. It's Friday!!!!!0
