The sweet potato chips, salted, and in reasonable quantity actually sound fabulous to ME!

Gahhhh, those pictures made my teeth hurt they looked so sweet. I have a mental picture of bands of campers roaming the woods, all down in the mouth, crabby and exhausted from sugar-hangovers.

Same with the apricot leather, provided there isn't a ton of added sugar. Stone fruits are fairly low carb friendly.

The rest of those, though? I'm pretty sure they would have melted on my trip this past weekend anyway. And who the hell makes s'mores treats ahead of time? If you want one while camping, just make a real one!

If you sub almond flour for the all purpose in the cheesy crackers recipe, that would be an ok snack. But Costco has those big bags of Whisps, so that is just so much easier.

And who has so many apricots at their house they are afraid they will go bad????

Sweet potatoes are so sweet naturally once you add the cinnamon to them, you are done. Don't ruin them with brown sugar, UGH. And you would need to eat them before your trip. Homemade potato chips do not travel well nor do they keep their crispness for a long period of time.

And to think someone actually got paid for writing this crap.

LOL @retirehappy - I cannot stand sweetened sweet potatoes. They must be prepared in a savory style or I won't even touch them. I used to hate the holidays with the sweetened mess people masqueraded as a vegetable!

Edited to add - it wasn't until a few years ago that someone got me to try them as salted fries that I fell in love. I'd always thought I hated them, but really, it was all in the preparation.

I'm similar -- I'm not wild about them as chips (I'm not that wild about chips in general), but after trying them 500 different ways I finally tried them just roasted with some olive oil and salt (maybe garlic or paprika or butter as different alternates, all savory) and I realized they were quite tasty. Not eating them at the moment as they are too high carb for my current macros, but I enjoy them, so long as they are simple and savory.
