Popeye Wasn't Wrong About Spinach
Spinach is packed with powerful nutrients and is an excellent source of folate, vitamin A, iron and vitamin K. Like other leafy greens, spinach also provides magnesium and calcium.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics offers this advice about buying and preparing spinach:
• Buy it fresh. Between travel and storage at warmer temperatures, some of the nutrient content may be lost.
• Frozen spinach retains more of its nutrients because it is flash-frozen.
• Just before serving, always wash fresh spinach carefully.
• Store unwashed spinach loosely in a plastic bag in the refrigerator's crisper, where it will last about four days.
