Hip replacement surgery

Hi friends, just wondering if anyone has had hip replacement surgery and if so how was the rehab. I am having the surgery done in 3 weeks. My biggest concern is how long before I can be active again. I enjoy weight lifting, hiking, swimming and occasionally jogging. I will go crazy if I am not able to be active within a couple of weeks

My right hip was replaced April 2016 but I had a few problems which required a number of blood transfusions and an extra 2 weeks in hospital. I was 3 weeks in a rehabilitation centre.
2 months later I could walk and cycle as normal. In July a 30 to 40 kilometre cycle was easy.
After you recover from surgery the main problem is if you dislocate your hip. So be careful and patient and allow your body to heal.

There are people on here and another who also has a hip replacement coming shortly. I had a total knee replacement in April. I'm walking without assistance however I'm not "normal" yet. I'm not in pain though still have tingling, squeezing feelings in my lower leg but the knee doesn't hurt, LOL They told me it will take 6 months to a year. I've done a lot of PT and from what learned the PT is important. I've seen your posts you will do fine, just don't overdo and follow your PT/ortho advise.0

Hi, curious how the hip replacement surgery went? I'm having it done next month, so just wondering if you had any thoughts or suggestions to share?0 -
@beachess8 My surgery went well as did my recovery. I went in the hospital Friday morning and was out Sunday afternoon. I was walking without a cane by that Thursday. Hope your surgery goes well for you. If you can exercise the muscles that will be cut. The better condition that they are in the better your recovery.1

beachess8, Just wanted to wish you well with the replacement and recovery. The folks who have been through it seem to have good advice for you.1
