I was wondering if anyone out there has a Vasa Ergometer. If so, how do you work it into your training? I just got one a couple of weeks ago, so I'm still figuring things out.

Given the price and highly technical nature of the device, and having read some of the posts from regulars here, I'd say you'll be hard pressed to find a regular here who uses/has used one. There are people here who have lashed out against hand paddles in the water. However, if you head on over to http://www.reddit.com/r/Swimming/ and ask there, I'm sure there are plenty more swimmers who have experience using one. I've seen them used before. I'm pretty sure they're primarily for strength training and for technique improvement. My suggestion, if you're going to use it without a coach, is record yourself using it so that you can watch the video and determine how to improve.0

I hated them with a fiery passion during my college swimming days. You're swimming up an incline. All your weight is distributed completely to your hands. Any natural rolling motion of your stroke is a great way to fall off the bench.
The ones I used didn't have the front part on them, they were just two paddles attached through a pulley system to each other. I'm assuming that's a resistance thing similar to a fitness bike. I'm still not convinced it's a great tool.
I'd say a better use of your money and most likely your time is getting some resistance bands.0
