Usually I can get a good block of time to train but sometimes, today for example, I only had 5 minutes here and there so had to break up todays workout (kettlebell routine) into several sessions. What are the drawbacks for doing this with strength training?

Is your ketlebell routine light weights? Are you doing the routine for calorie burn or strength?

    I wouldn't worry about it.

There is research showing at least for strength gains splitting up a session into 2 separate sessions produced better strength gains.

This was talked about in one the muscle college radio podcasts with layne and dr lowry.

The only possible problem I can imagine is insufficient warm-ups. When you do a single training session, you are quite warm by the end of it. If you do the same lifts/exercises in several installments without warming up before each, you will be less tired, but you might also be at a greater risk of injury.
