Today is the fourth of July. I just saw the Doug Kaufman "know the cause" show. His show mainly targets fungus as a link to many illnesses. They had a section on the keto diet. They showed one study/report after another that proved some cancers can and do grow on ketones. The second complaint about the keto diet: they claimed that some people get where they cannot handle carbs above 20 grams. The doctor (presenting the data) said that he was on the keto diet for (I think he said) 18 months. Afterward, eating blueberries etc caused him gas and he gained lots of weight. The show said that keto was great for ending epilepsy and other conditions, but they do not consider it a lifetime diet. Instead, they like paleo and the Kaufman diet.

There are actually some cancers that are able to use fat for fuel. I don't know which but It's not like the ketones makes it worse. If a person was eating a bunch of carbs they'd still be fueling it. So there are just some that aren't as easily affected by the lack of glucose. Doesn't mean ketones makes it worse.1

Keto has shown to help treat/reduce/keep from growing cancers that are PET positive. PET scans use a radio active glucose, so that makes sense to me. Not all cancers are PET positive.1

Thinking back to the show, I think it is what the website "ThatHealsThat.com" says: For every diet and even for remedies, there are 1/3 for whom it works exceedingly great, 1/3 that it works OK; and 1/3 that it does not work at all and could even be negative for the person. Keto is the only way I can lose weight.0

I've read that some some cancers are fueled by ketones and others are starved by ketones. One of my favorite guys to follow is Dom D'Agostino. His primary research interest is eradicating disease. If you're not familiar with him, you might want to listen to some of his podcasts/videos. I'm just suggesting a "new" name for those who have interest.
In regards to not being able to handle carbs after eating keto, that was a concern/interest for me. Though I have no interest in sugary/starchy foods like cookies and pasta except perhaps on a very rare occasion, I personally would not favor never being able to eat fresh vegetables. I ate less than 20 grams of carbs for a solid year then upped it to about 50 with no problem in regards to digestion or weight. I can certainly see where other folks might experience issues due to changes in gut biomes.0 -
Becoming fat adapted does cause transient physiological insulin resistance. If you go back to a higher carb diet it disappears within a couple of days.
If you ever need to do an oral glucose tolerance test where you drink the 75g of glucose and test BG every 30 minutes for 2-3 hours, your BG will be very high unless you've adapted yourself back to a higher carb diet for a few days ahead of time. It's normal.
Sort of like how when a "sugar burner" on a higher carb diet suddenly cuts carbs very low. They may be hungry, weaker and have less energy for a few days until they begin using fat for fuel more readily. They are "fat resistant" for a while.0
