Everyone says it, but just how do you do it? How do you take the guidelines of the WW program and turn them into a lifestyle you can live every day...from now on? That is what we are here to explore. Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Newbie? Join in! Veteran? Join in! Your thoughts may be just what someone else needs to hear.

Today's topic: Weight Watchers Topics
I used to really enjoy going to the Weight Watchers weekly meetings, but sometimes the topics got a bit stale. What weekly topics do you enjoy discussing and which ones do you groan a bit when they're on the agenda? What is it about those topics that make them your most/least favorite for meetings?

I used to love when maintenance came up as a topic because then I got to glean some good tips from the maintainers and I feel like it's not talked about enough.
On the other hand, any time the topic was activity I groaned a bit. I know it's an important topic, but as an active person I felt like a jerk when I shared what I do for activity and listening to others talk about walking down to the mailbox wasn't my idea of a good time. I know they say that sometimes you need the meeting and sometimes the meeting needs you, but with that topic I just feel out of place.0 -
I've been doing online for so long that I barely remember the topics. But, what I do remember was a preference for practical, pragmatic topics.0

I can't remember the WW topics so I guess they didn't stick.
One I like from another source had to do with travel. It said before you go on a trip, decide if you are in lose mode, maintain mode or eat unrestrained. Before my last trip, I spent a lot of time thinking how I would eat on the trip. (All inclusive scuba diving trip.) I had planned to maintain, but that didn't work. I ate less than if I had said unrestrained. Clearly I need to do some more work on this.1 -
This was always my least favorite:

Anything to do with recipes. Which is usually rooted in not being bored.
One day I commented that, funny, but I wasn't bored eating the same thing 5-6 times per week when it was pizza.
Also, the discussion usually ends up in the quest for the WW Holy Grail- WW Black Forest Cake that's 10 pts for the entire cake. Usually made out of beans, a banana, sugar free pudding and diet soda.0 -
Discussions about pumpkin fluff and cakes made with diet soda come to mind.
The last meeting I attended was around the time SP was introduced. There was way too much discussion about hacks to oatmeal to make it more SP friendly. I haven't been back to a meeting since.
The meetings I enjoyed most were the special once a month meetings a leader/friend held which were focused on maintenance. Those were very helpful but sadly the regional office cut them out.1 -

This week's subject is ACTIVITY!
I think WW Inc does a good job of introducing new topics so veterans like me don't get bored. I agree the annual preparation for the Thanksgiving day feast is one I could skip.
My WW ML keeps us entertained no matter what the topic.1 -
I've always been on line never been to a WW meeting but I have heard plenty of stories on our Goad board.0

I can't say I enjoy or don't any of the topics--they're flat-liners to me after three years. I appreciate the message of plan, weigh/measure, implement, track, move, fun but truthfully most meetings are building on one or more of those themes.
However, what I love about my meeting is that we have an absolutely fantastic leader. She's walked the walk for years having lost 40 pounds on WW several years ago (and kept it off). She has a fantastic sense of humor and is a great public speaker for the purpose at-hand. Similarly, our group--which has waxed and waned considerably over the years--is now quite interactive and I often learn from others some tricks or another or a new way of looking at or dealing with life on the plan. For a half-hour timeslot once a week (or every other week which is my summer attendance), I feel like it's well worth the investment. Especially since I haven't had to pay for a meeting in almost two years.
What does get old to me is people who religiously attend the meetings, don't follow the plan and *kitten* about not losing weight. I get especially tired of those who blame others for why they didn't lose weight: the fiance, the kids, the husband, etc. Don't get me wrong; I've done the same from time to time but the revelation that our weight is solely our own doing really rings true for me. I've spoken up to the whiners at our meetings (respectfully) because blaming others for what goes in your mouth is in my opinion, a cop-out. Some people have actually thanked me for speaking up; others have not appreciated it.
I know this wasn't really responding to the question but I figure I can sit through just about anything for a short period of time. What makes or breaks the meetings for me is the other people and how interactive (or not) they are. I'm pleased that at this point, it's a good, dynamic group and that definitely makes it worth my while.1 -
The "Weekly" messages are all repeats now, after all these years, but our meeting core group are absolutely great. We share our stories, recipes, up and downs, with humor and sharpened wit. Really miss them if we don't go.0

Oh yeah the proverbial thanksgiving plate how could I forget. LOL. Yeah I love my peeps but topics come and go. We have several maintainers and lifers so we aren't odd ducks and share at every meeting.0
