    My dentist requires me to bring my phone and earbuds because otherwise I am tense and, apparently, she prefers I not be tense. So even for routine cleanings, I close my eyes, ignore what's happening and go through my playlist appropriately labeled "dentist." And loud works well for distraction, so I have opera as well as rock.
    In addition, said dentist allows me to pay for the extra service of nitrous oxide. Good days.
