Decreased Appetite _long Term?

HI all,

Just curious as to anyone that has experienced continuous decreased appetite? This is my 2nd attempt at Keto, I am only on day 2, week 2 so I know early, but finding it hard to get food in the past few days.

Previously when I was doing Keto, I did have a decrease in appetite, but it seemed to only be for the first week. Cravings didn't come back, but I was able to eat without an issue. Note that I was do a really lazy version, basically only tracking Net Carbs at the time.

This time around, dt reflection of my last experience, and where I may have failed, I am being meticulous about weighing my food, tracking my macros and staying at 1200 cals. (Per recommendation of MFP/goals).

The last few days I have had right around 800-950 cals by the end of the night and was fully satiated, but for fear of being under the calories (not sure why I'm fearful, maybe bc I hear you have to eat X calories.....) I have added on a keto friendly snack that fits my macros.

Last night for example, I had like 300 cals left...I wasn't that hungry, but I snacked on some Macadamia nuts to complete my night, fill my cals. I was still on point for carbs/fat, etc. But felt OVERFULL, which is not what I want, nor does it seem necessary.

I guess my long winded question is to those who have been consistently following a Keto WOE, do you have continued decreased appetite? Should I eat those calories to hit 1200? I am walking for a total of about 3-4 miles per day, and do not eat my w/o cals back.

I understand this is an individual experience and journey, just wondering if anyone out there has some insight/thoughts.

Thanks!

KCKO!

You need to eat more fat. I have the same issue with hunger. Find some.good fats that you like to eat so you can get your calories up. I use coffee with coconut oil, butter and cream. 300 call. Also nuts.

    Keep trying.

Why eat more fat, if my appetite is decreased? I'm completely satiated with the foods I am eating.

I was just curious if others have had decreased appetite longer than the initial period.

My appetite has also decreased. I don't think I've hit my calorie goal of 1744 since starting keto on July 30th. Like you, I also worry about not getting enough calories and nutrition. I usually drink a cup of hot tea with coconut oil or coconut manna just to get in a couple hundred more. However, I have felt a little fuller than I like to feel before bed. I wasn't sure how exactly to handle it except to eat more fat. That being said, I think having a little bit extra keeps me from waking up hungry in the middle of the night.

I don't know how long the initial period is. And the past two days, I have felt a little more hungry when I wake up in the morning and sometimes between meals.

How is your appetite now? I am into my third week and my appetite is almost non existent. I struggle everyday to hit my protein mark. Before every meal, I track food but I rarely finish the meal. I should be hitting my calorie count (just over 1200) and rarely do.

So glad to have found this, I am having the same experience! And as a result, I know I am not getting enough servings of the leafy greens (bulk) that I prob need for nutrients. What do others do, eat greens first? But if you don't have enough room then for the protein/fat?
