Hi i could do with knowing if any of you done both? I have done slimmingworld(red days) in the past and lost plenty of weight with them and gained it all again. I have done low carbs and lost with that aswell but it does take me longer on low carbs. My problem is i got ulcerative colitis, i and notice if i have any pasta, rice, potatoes and bread i will get blotted and yes winding. But while doing red days on slimmingworld world i was nearly alright in my bowls where as when I do low carbs i dont get any problems at all. I think is all down to the sugar intake i have. What i am trying to find out is there anyone out there with the same problem.
I am thinking if i do red days with a low carb intake i wouldn't get as much sugar intake as i wouldn't be having all the low fat food ( low fat cheese and yougart ect) but maybe increase my vegetables and berries intakes, i can use my syns everyday on the full fat to keep sugar intake away. Any ideas.

I have no clue about slimmingworld(red days). I do think if you have noted issues with pasta, rice, potatoes and bread, the LCHF might be well suited to you...

I'm not familiar with slimming world but from what I see on line, it looks like a diet of lean meat, vegetables, low fat dairy and fruit primarily with some carbs like pasta, rice potatoes and bread thrown in all while keeping things low fat.

I don't see why you couldn't just cut out the pasta, rice, potatoes and bread but log term the body does need fat. Fat is an essential nutrient. So yes add some full fat dairy as you mentioned (or eat fattier cuts of meat).

I attend a slimming world session but I am doing my own thing as currently zero carb - I attend for friendship more than anything but I do think of all the slimming sessions out there Slimming World is the easiest to Low carb it - they have something called SP days which is very like the old red days - obviously the main difference is they are still very much low fat which isn't how LCHF works

I know about SP days, and if i just do low carbs not LCHF and then use my syns on the fatty side to keep the carbs down i should be fine as long i dont have all the low fat food as it is full of carbs. I can have the berries as they are low in carbs and low carb vegetables regarding meat i will get normal meat not low fat as i could use the syns on that. Does that make sense? Or should i just keep to my low carbs?

I would say it's possible to do SW like that, before I went ZC I followed their plan and used my syns for the full fat options - my reasons for going down to ZC is due to stomach issues that I was struggling to find anything to eat that didn't cause me pain other than meat, but I have always liked SW as a plan - it's definitely possible to do SW as a low carb option, just make sure you use your syns for the fat as LC does need a certain amount of fat

It makes sense to me. The real trick is developing something healthy and nutritious that is appealing so you will continue with it long term. Stop the yo-yo. Yes?

If you're doing the "free food" thing that I read about in the on-line thing for SW, I'd personally be leary of that aspect but then, I've always monitored calories. Oh I've cheated myself sometimes not counting/entering stuff but rely on the "what I eat in private, I wear in public" reality and that currently stops me. :o
