Introduction and Maintaining Motivation.

Hello folks. I'm new here and thought I'd introduce myself, although not new to the struggle to stay healthy.
In 48, and a single dad. My son has had his own health issues for several years and I stopped paying attention my own healthy habits when caring for him was pretty much a full-time job. Thankfully he's much better now I've been exercising more regularly and watching what I eat since February. In that time I've dropped from 340 pounds to 302. A lot more to go.
I am happy with the progress, but frustrated that I now have to schedule a surgery for myself. They tell me that it will be at least a month afterward before I can exercise again. I know that in the past it has always been a struggle for me to resume habits after I've been knocked of course for a bit. I am wondering if any of you have faced this and if you've found anything which helps.
When I exercise regularly, I can remember how good it feels, even if it's tough. When I've been away from it, I just remember how tough it is. It is also discouraging to remember the level I was at before and to think how much progress has been lost. Lastly, since I know exercising regularly actually works for me, in a perverse sort of way it makes it easier for me to delay it; because if I start tomorrow I'll still get results. In any case that's my struggle.
In the short-term, the surgeon has told me that every ounce of fat I can lose beforehand will improve outcomes and reduce the the chance of complications. So I've been doing 2-a-day workouts and will continue until the day before.
In any case, this seems like a friendly group. I am happy to have found it and hope that you'll welcome me.
