When getting the total carbs for something I know you take the fiber from the carbs. However when buying the no sugar added stuff I know you typically subtract the sugar alcohols as well. For example , The other day I was looking at the no sugar added ice creams and it broke it down to sugars as well as sugar alcohols on the ice cream label. The total carbs were the same as the regular ice cream. Would I have been better off with the no sugar added ice cream. And do you subtract the fiber, the sugar alcohols and the sugars? Any insight to that would be helpful. Thank you

Using the info from the link above:
13 total carbs minus 0 fiber minus 6 sugar alcohols= 7 net carbs.
You do not subtract the 4 sugars
Many would say to subtract only half of the sugar alcohols.
If the product happened to have fiber in it, yes. Subtract the fiber also to get NET carbs.
Others can explain why they subtract none or part or all sugar alcohols. I steer clear of sugar alcohols. THE only thing I have found that disrupts my system is sugar alcohols. I'll bloat up like a balloon and can physically feel that mess disrupting my colon/bowel. Sugar alcohols=bad juju for me.1 -
