The majority received an unsatisfactory rating.
Of the 2 Walmart Relion models, 1 passed (Relion Confirm) and failed (Relion Prime).
The top score went to Bayer's Contour Next (but the previous model, Contour, failed).

I'm glad to see the glucometer I've been using for the last 2 years did pretty good (CVS Advanced).
The next time I'm ready for a new glucometer, I'll try the Bayer Contour Next glucometer--the test results on that one looked quite impressive!

The next time I'm ready for a new glucometer, I'll try the Bayer Contour Next glucometer--the test results on that one looked quite impressive!

Cool! I was wondering about that! That's one thing I like about my CVS Advanced meter--all the 20% & 30% off email coupons I get from CVS and just "stock up" on test strips! I'll have to see which meter my mom uses for comparison to the Bayer Contour Next.

Cool! I was wondering about that! That's one thing I like about my CVS Advanced meter--all the 20% & 30% off email coupons I get from CVS and just "stock up" on test strips! I'll have to see which meter my mom uses for comparison to the Bayer Contour Next.
You can order soon-expiring test strips on eBay & Amazon. (They're Free w some insurance!)0 -
I love my Contour next. I bought it because of a previous study on accuracy. I actually have two so I have a backup, can check if anything seems odd, and can leave one in my purse and one in my bathroom.
The strips are about 22 bucks per 100 on Amazon, and from the place I get them, they are not soon-expiring, they have dates at least a year off. Amazon will randomly select a dealer for them unless you specify, so I always specify the guys I trust. The only difficulty I have had is, don't ever trust Prime shipping - amazon's idea of "two days guaranteed" has turned into more than a week. So stay on top of things and order in plenty of time.
Note that even the most accurate meters were off by as much as 10% either direction - which isn't really medically important, but is a reason not to take it too seriously if your glucose reads 90 one morning and 110 the next. It could be the same exact reading. I have tested with two different packs of strips on the same drop of blood and had them vary by 15 points.2 -
Hmm. My One Touch Ultra did not pass. I have a freestyle that I haven't used yet that passed, maybe i will think about switching1

Good point!
I don't tend to experience such wide swings... unless my BG has reacted to something purporting to be low carb.
