Hello UAC September 2017 Members!
Some of you have been with this challenge for months and some are brand new. I can tell you that it is one of the hardest challenges to stay with throughout the entire month. FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!! Log every BLT (Bite, Lick, Taste). Stay strong and true to yourself....YOU WILL SUCCEED!!
Please feel free to share as much information as you feel comfortable sharing about yourself with the rest of the group. I look forward to getting to know all of you a little better. GOOD LUCK!

Hi, Jen here. I've been on this most recent journey to lose weight for about 6 weeks. Down 16 or so pounds so far - but have been living on plateau planet for the last 3 weeks. I need to shake things up and get the scale moving in the right direction. At least it isn't moving up yet... happy to have the chance to join and learn from other's successes, struggles and wins!6

Hi, my name is Naomi. I am an on and off weight conscious person. Ready to stay on track. I think this group will help me cause I do t want to be disqualified lol. I lost 50lbs after my baby she is 7 m okknths now but I still want to lose 40 more. It's hard but I know I can do it if I stay focused. I joined MPG cause I can't do it alone.5

Hello, Gerri here. I am looking forward to my weight loss & This group is just what I need!!
I need to loose 40 lbs & the accountability is very helpful!!! I have been struggling to drop any weight & my doctor is concerned because I have health issues.I am over 50 but not old! LOL I just have to find the right plan for me & stay with it! I know once I break through this barrier I will succeed! We all have our own story & it will be great to help each other.5 -
This will be my second month.. I am going to strive to be more accountable this month. Thats what its all about. Thanks to @RangerRickL for heading up the challenge again!5
-
This will be my second month, too. I've really enjoyed the August Challenge and have been inspired by some amazing people.
I'm about 8 weeks into MFP and have lost about 10 lbs, so far. Even better than the weight loss, though, has been how physically great I've been feeling. I made a commitment to eat mainly whole foods and adopt a lifestyle/ nutrition that helps decrease inflammation in my body. So far, so good.
I'm looking forward to meeting more people in September:)9 -
I always forgot to click the "join" button on the UAC groups, so made sure I did that first this time, lol.
This will be my third month here, can't believe it's been that long already, days are sure flying by fast.
I so love this group - thanks to @RangerRickL and @craigo3154 - for introducing me to the UAC, your kind words and advice over the past two months, heaven knows how I managed so long without all of you, lol.
I love reading each of your posts every day, your triumphs, setbacks and NSV's, are all so inspiring to me and you help me to focus on my own goals and motivate me to keep going, even when I feel somedays I can't - you are all a brilliant group of people.
Looking forward to another month with you all and wish you all the very best.
Have a great month everyone..x10 -
Hi I'm new here and I'm looking forward to being accountable one month at a time. I really need this as I've been struggling lately and started gaining some weight back.
Thank you for running this challenge and I am looking forward to meeting some new friends!!7 -
Hi everyone, my name is Shawna. I went from fit to unfit in a span of 5 months. I finally have the right mindset that I need to start shedding weight while becoming more active. Looking forward to the month-long journey! Good luck to everyone!7

Hi all! After trying to lose weight many times, I finally found lots of success this time by focusing on (and rewarding) sticking to it rather than a weight loss goal. I've been at this for a year and a half and have lost ~75 lbs. This really helps when I am in one of my weight loss stalls which I get into every once in a while, and used to derail me. I am in the middle of a stall right now (16 days no weight loss, I've been very good with eating and exercise this whole month). So this challenge is right up my alley.7

Hello all, 2nd month for me. Daily accountability is great, I don't want to let myself or the group down.
44 with wife and two kids (11,8) and I live on the Coast in North Yorkshire, uk. Determined to actually do what I know needs doing and not give up too easily.7 -
I am happy to find this challenge, can't wait to begin!6

Hi everyone. I'm back for round 3! I'm not a TKO yet. Dealing with the loss of a close family member here in the later part of August has made every day a pass pretty much, but I'm looking forward to getting back to better habits with the UAC. Welcome back!6

Hiya all, I am back from a break or 3 - my ankle gave way and hasn't fully recovered and a bone in it repeatedly fractures. Been waiting for the magic day when it mends properly and doesn't just give way when I'm walking but waiting has only made me fat again. I'm back to be accountable so the load on my ankle can reduce :-) Looking forward to getting back into the swing of accurate recording and logging with you guys. Hope we all have a great month7

Howdy everyone! I'm new to the challnge. I am Bob from the north Texas area excited about a challenge where I can push myself. I'm also a retired firefighter that has let my aches and pains be an excuse for sitting on my butt and consequently have gained over 100lbs over the last 20 years. I started on MFO on Aug 3rd and have lost 15 lbs so far just with LCHF eating and very little activity.
With this challenge, my goal is to continue LCHF, but eating cleaner, reduce my daily calories some, and shoot for 45 min or daily activity. Pray for me, please! I may have lost my mind OR ignited a fire that will rage the rest of my days.
Let's help each other be a success!7 -
Hello Everyone, my name is Paula. I'm back for a second month. I am a 61-year old co-owner of a pet service business. I get a bit of exercise walking and jogging with dogs. But I definitely benefit from a close look at my calories each day!5

Hello Everybody. My name is Simon and this'll be my 5th month with UAC it's a fantastic Challenge that can help you if you let it and I myself have experienced much success since May with them tons of Kind & Insightful people.
Back when I started weight loss I weighed 277 in January and decided to make some changed one of the biggest ones at first was just quitting soda and that evolved into adding cardio and doing weight training but then I got very into cardio and hiking and ended up hiking 5days a week at 8-10Miles a day during those times and lost a lot of weight as of the 29th of Aug I'm 193 pounds so i've had a very successful weightloss.
This'll be my final month in UAC as I wont have access to internet for awhile as I'll be shipping to basic sometime in late september or early october unless there's space before the next shipment.
The only advice I really have is just Be honest & open to yourself it's okay to fail every now and then it's what you do after that determines how you can change and remember you can't out train a bad diet.
I usually have a Weight loss / Mile goal but I was told to halt cardio for now so for this month I'll be doing mainly bodyweight training for example - Push ups, Planks, Squats, Planks and so forth and probably yoga every now and then.
There's no such thing as failure as long as you dont give up.11 -
Hello, everyone!
My name is Kelsea. I am 25 years old (26 on the 13th!), and I have been with UAC for 10 months.
The next year will be a tough one for me as I will be working on my master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies. It will be a very intense program, allowing for little free time. However, I have developed some great skills and learned many lessons from fellow UACers these last ten months, so I'm confident that I can maintain a healthy lifestyle while keeping up with my bookwork. Studies show that regular exercise and a healthy diet are major contributors to educational success, but they tend to be the first habits to go when we're stressed. I'm going to try to keep this in mind as I stumble through this first month.
UAC has been an immense help to me, supporting my journey and keeping me accountable. Thank you to the veterans for your continued support and welcome newcomers! I am very excited for the upcoming month and wish you all the best!6 -
I'm Janice...48 year old mom of 4...this will be month 3 for me...looking forward to it. Kids are back in school and I will have a little more time for me. Can't wait to get to know you all...5

Hi everyone.
Sorry for disappearing last month, back pain and tiredness got to me (not feeling much better but going to start out as I wish to go on)
My name is Donna and I am 44 years young, happily married with 4 kids n 2 cats, I live in bonny Scotland in the UK and the cold weather is starting to appear, (not that its ever warm here) :-/ this will my 4th month in UAC and I have only been in the winners circle once, I would love to make that twice this round.
my aims for September are this
-lose 3 lbs
-lose 2 inches across the 5 measurements I take
-walk / bike 300 miles
-be in the winners circle
-eat no higher than my maintenance calories (2000) in any day and to avg over each week /month between 1550 - 16507 -
I thought I would introduce myself this month. My name is Joyce. I first started the challenge last month. So happy I did! The encouragement by other members is so valuable and essential.
I am starting to form habits that hopefully I will be able to continue. The one thing that I have noticed in the past is I have a tendency to sabotage my success by giving up way too easily. Additionally it has been hard to pass on food I shouldn't have when I'm with others. Consistant exercise has been difficult. I've had fatigue issues because of a heath condition (kidney transplant). Well honestly, it is probably the meds I have to take to prevent rejection that are responsible for the fatigue. At times I struggle with low blood pressure I didn't have previously--causing more fatigue. With that being said I am so grateful and sometimes overwhelmed when I think about the wonderful gift I have been given. I would not be alive now without it. Every day is a gift. I can truly attest to that.
Last Sept I had a accident resulting in a broken bone in my rotator cuff. A few months after that I had a painful bout with plantar fasciitis which has been ongoing. These two things made it difficult for me to even walk much less exercise. My arm has healed, my plantar fasciitis is better and now I have less fatigue--so no more excuses!!!
I love challenges. I need accountability and motivation--- that's why I'm here!!! My hope is maybe I can be a motivation to others also.
@SimonsChange like that quote
you only fail if you give up. So true6 -
Hi everyone, old friends and newcomers. This is my 11th UAC.
I'm looking forward to a great month with you all with all the ups and downs and challenges life brings. September challenges for me will be returning to work after the school holidays (I'm a teacher) as I loved the luxury of having time to exercise in August, and I'm starting a two year part time post-grad course. And my one year old keeps me busy.
Good luck in reaching your goals everyone !

Hi everyone my name is Priscilla and I am happy to be entering this challenge for the 6th time. I love this group and it is so good to see all the returning members and to welcome all the new ones. Do not be afraid to ask questions or to share your journeys with us good or bad, we were all new once and believe me when I say everyone cares, you are important to us.
My goals for September are
1. Lose 4.6LBs reaching the 35lb mark(to date 30.4)
2. To not eat more than 1/2 my exercise calories on any day
3. To be in the winners circle
4. To drink 10 glasses of water a day
5. To encourage and support others
Everyone please remember that there is no failure here, like @SimonsChange(and we will miss him dearly) said the only failure is giving up, so if you use your 3 pass days, do not give up, stay with us, continue to check in and we WILL support you, be true to YOU and so will we....HUGS everyone I will be cheering for you!!

Hi I am Jodi from Northeast Ohio. Third month at UAC I'm maintaining my 65-75 pound loss - as you can see there has been some fluctuations over the last 7 years. MFP challenges really help me! I have a life long battle with weight since childhood. This is my longest period of maintenance. When I recommitted on June 20 I was at a healthy weight, but with the help of the UAC, I am back to what I consider to be a fit weight.
Married 29 years this month. Two daughters 23 and 19. I enjoy skiing, cycling, hiking, gardening. For other exercise I do DVD's mainly Zumba and Turbo jam. I should do more strength workouts ---and I do more when I'm involved in the challenges.5 -
Hi, I'm Paula. I'm 61 years old, looking to take off some extra weight I've put on by eating too well and too much. Other than monitoring the three daily Ultimate Accountability Challenge items, I'm planning to cut back on caffeine in September. I was in the August Ultimate AccountabilityChallenge and it was very helpful.4

Hey all. Jeff here. I live in Virginia and have been at this for 42 days. So far, lost 11 lbs. My short term motivation is a Spartan race I'm running on Sept 10. Really needed to drop pounds and add muscle. So far so good. We'll see if I'm ready.
Good luck to everyone. Glad we're all in this together.3 -

@pahsarj1. Good luck with the spartan race.
My best advice is to easy workout on the 8th, and only 20 mins of light cardio on the 9th (nothing strenuous). Your body will need the rest to give it's all on the 10th.
Prior to the 9th work out as normal. The pre-race recovery time is crucial. Otherwise you have a significant chance of letting your team down.
There is not much you can do in a week to drop pounds and still have energy to race. High protein will help, but you really needed to do most of the work weeks ago. Its usually a 7 to 8 week training cycle to get the body to a peak.
On race day (at least 2 hours before competition), load up with 80-90% carbohydrates (maybe 300-400 kCal worth) along with 10%-20% protein. You want a moderate amount of carbs in your system for quick energy, but not too much that it weighs you down. (proteins and fats are slower energy - protein is required for the amino acids to assist with digestion and burning of the carbs without protein synthesis (muscle scavenging)).
Best of luck. Look forward to hearing the results.

Hello UAC! I just realized I haven't done this month's introduction.
My name is Clarice and this is my 3rd month with UAC. I have yet to make it to the Winner's Circle, but I'm not about to quit trying now! Even when I have been quiet, I have continued to read all your inspiring posts.
I am 58 y/o, married 18 years, and the "mom" of a very spoiled Golden Retriever named Tara. We live in Southern California where we have had one of the hottest summers in history. So far we have been lucky enough to escape most of the smoke and ash from the fires.
At 4'10", every pound seems to matter. Unfortunately I have added 30 pounds in the last year! It is hard to believe! I've had a bout of bad health and injuries, but they were all just excuses, not valid reasons.
But I'm back with renewed dedication, and very grateful @RangerRickL has kept this group going!
