Oh boy. Trending upward, of course. Can't expect different when I've been doing the same. Drinking beer at Octoberfest, going out for Mexican food with friends, no trainer, etc., etc. So, the Holiday is over, and as of yesterday I'm back logging and getting more movement. Kelly, yes, I've had pain in my left foot. It's much better now, but still "there". I put in some new insoles, and rested it more. Elevated it at night. The turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory. It works wonders for me, along with Osteo Bi-Flex Triple Strength. I got 5 + miles yesterday, some of it jogging. So, I'm mostly back. Sarah, I need some new shoes. I was going to get into our local running store (Salt Lake Running Company) to ask them about the best shoes for my old feet. I'll let you know what they tell me.
Kelly, CONGRATULATIONS! Great reduction. And, it sounds like your life is really great. I'm so happy for you and Shawn. And, keep up the good work and being so diligent with your health. Love him AND yourself! Wish I could meet you in Las Vegas . . we could play some craps, lol! I'm only about 8 hours away. I think Lois is even closer. I'm sure you'd LOVE to have your old lady online friends show up, hahaha!
Sarah, that's really interesting about the Fitbit being inaccurate on calorie burn. Like Kelly, I try to never go over 1400 calories intake, but maybe I should put it at 1200. Ugh. I hope you can get your walking of the cul-d-sac if nothing else. And, break out the treadmill while you're watching the Nats.

Well, I did make it out to the mall tonight in the rain, but I didn't get in my full 10,000 steps. First I had to run an errand, which made me start a little later, and then after about 50 minutes of walking, I noticed that my blood sugar was dropping fast. Fortunately, hubby had dinner ready just as I came in the door. Looks like I'm going to be a little over 7K today, but I made 10K yesterday and the day before, so that's some progress from the previous weeks.
Today was a killer day at work. I stopped only long enough to go down for a sandwich at lunch and other than that, hardly looked up. It really hurts to get up from my desk at 6:45 and have 1200 steps for whole day up to that point. Hopefully, tomorrow will not be so intense.
Sheesh, my doc said that osteo bi-flex has anti-inflammatory properties which is probably why it does seem to help joint aches. How much turmeric do you take?
And yes, let me know what the shoe store says. I have a friend who works for Fleet Feet and just finished the Hood Relay out in Oregon. She keeps saying that I need to come in and let her fit me. I'm still thinking about more Ghosts or the Hoka's because the latter look so cushiony on the bottom. I miss the Reeboks I had a few years back that had air cushions on the soles. On the hard mall floors, I liked that bounce.
As I was walking tonight I was thinking about my mood. It was a bit bitchy, so thank goodness I was alone! LOL I think it was because hubby had a very ADD day when he started things he didn't finish and he messed up some things. I told him this evening that sometimes I wonder if I don't also have a touch of adult attention deficit, but after observing him today--I don't think so!
Last night I walked 7000 steps at the mall and then did the last 3000 around the cul-de-sacs around 11 p.m. It was a great night to be out. There's a full moon, it was a pleasant temperature, and because of the humidity rolling in and the change in temps, there was a kind of fog hanging around the streets lights and the wet trees, making it look very mysterious. I loved it! Tonight it was flat out raining, so finishing my steps outside was not an option. Considering what the southern states are going through, however, I dare not complain about a little rain.
Well, it's time to think about getting ready for bed. Midnight is soon upon me. I hope every one has a great Thursday.

VEGAS?!??!?! Kelly's going to be in VEGAS?!?!?! How did I miss that one?!??!?! I'm a five hour drive away.... When? When? When? How long will you be in Vegas? When.....you guys should come to AZ when they play here...don't they play here too???? I'm 15 mins from the arena for the Phoenix games. tee hee hee!!!
I think I've been skimming the posts...cuz I have no idea how I missed that one.
Ok...so down today to 215.6. WTH ?? overnight another pound??? We'll see what happens. I've gone back to daily weighing...this week. because of these weird fluctuations. I know Santa already delivered me a very cool Garmin Fenix, but I'm wondering if maybe, just maybe, he can add the scale that goes with it. I HATE bending down in the wee morning to read the numbers. It really plays with my vertigo lately (which has been super duper sensitive the past month+). Son still working Garmin, so discount still there...thinking thinking thinking..thinking I'm spoiled rotten. Hahaha.
Sarah - I've been reading your posts and the portion where you called out how you were diligent about getting in those 10k steps DAILY and how it helped. I AGREE. I did my best when I hit those daily numbers. I see my neck dr on Friday to see what the next steps are...I NEED to be able to walk/hike soon. We're still over 105 here daily, but one day, not sure when, but one day we will be in the 90's or even the 80's again and I really want to be on the trails then....
VEGAS0 -
Lois, you crack me up! I had a picture in my mind of Kelly with her man in Vegas looking very scared and asking her "WHO are these women again??"
So you must like the Garmin . . does it track calorie burn? I wonder if it's more accurate than the Fitbit? Have you tested them together to compare?
I really hope your neck and vertigo issues get resolved in time for the cooler weather, Lois. You're a girl who needs to be outside.
Sarah, a pound is a great reduction! Congratulations. And, great job getting to the 10K finish line at 11 pm. That's the kind of determination we need!0 -
As I posted on my regular FB page, it was a killer day today. I think when I finally stood up for the first time at around 8:15, I had less than a thousand steps. But hubby had dinner ready and then, bless his heart, he went with me for a walk on my hilly street route so I got close to 8000 steps. Not 10, but considering--it was a success. I have another killer day tomorrow (ugh, today--it's already close to 1 a.m.) I'm afraid, but thank goodness this was a 4 day week and soon the weekend will be here. I think all weeks should be four day weeks. Happy Friday one and all.
(Sheesh, I got a good laugh out of the "WHO are these women again?")

Sheesh - in MY DEFENSE...we've known Kelly longer than Shawn.....yep...uh huh....lmao. Just sayin!! still chuckling to myself over here.
This morning I had to go out to one of our sales offices for some internet and software challenges. I LOVE that office. It is in Fountain Hills and guess what??? Trails are RIGHT THERE!!! Like just outside the gate to our community!! That was sheer torture this morning. Great thing I didn't have my shoes and hydration stuff with me....Poof...where's lois? hahahaha Temps were cooler than norm (mid 80's and cloud cover - near PERFECT HIKING conditions). Oh torturous!!!! Office is now running smoothly and I'm back in my own office. no dirt or dust on my toes....I behaved.
Oh and I checked in on Light. She's hunkering down in FL to ride out Irma. She promised to post as she was able to let us know she is safe. I'll let you know if I hear anything else.
Sarah - I was there with you yesterday. We had a state audit and tensions were flying around here. I think I was the only calm one (I knew my files were complete and in compliance...the other people's stuff - well they weren't as confident...buahahahaha) Auditors complimented my files and information which only affirms my crazy butt strict requirements for every contract package submitted. WOOT WOOT!!! We passed all areas, and like I said, I was calm and confident.
Dr. appt for the neck this afternoon. Don't expect any stellar or new information, just maybe a better game plan. Noted above, hiking temps are approaching~~~

Good luck with the appointment. Since you guys are a couple of hours behind us, you may be there now, so I'm sending good vibes. Feel them?
Just as you start thinking about better weather, we start thinking about winter! Hard to believe, but I took off my silk top and put on a fleece one before I went walking last night. It was in the 50s, but there was an outrageously pretty full moon. I don't know if I'll be able to convince hubby to walk tonight. Usually his neck needs at least a day between those outings.
I was surprised when I looked at my calorie burn for yesterday. The route we walked is very hilly--the kind where your thighs cry! And yet I burned fewer calories doing that than walking the mall the night before that. Go figure.
I went to bed about 1 a.m. this morning and was back at work before 7:30. I have no idea how these figures are going to over with our new agency managers who look only at numbers and not how much time, work and skill it takes to get one check mark in a column. But this is one of those times when I just have to do what I'm asked to do and hand over the data and then let go of the outcome.
Today at least has not been as stressful as yesterday. Yesterday, I felt like the muscles in my neck and upper shoulders were on FIRE!!
I'm glad that you thought to check in with Laura (Light). I looked at her Fitbit dashboard a few weeks ago, and it looked like she had stopped wearing her Fitbit. I have been hoping that she is okay. I know when I'm depressed, sick, angry--you name it, I'm less likely to focus on nutrition and activity, when I really should focus on it more at those times.
Well, took a break while waiting for my client to respond to something but need to check to see if she finally did so. My coworkers in Atlanta are expecting some crazy rain about Monday, and they say that all the hotels are full down there with people who drove up from Florida. Hats off to Baseball, though. I heard that the Braves are offering free tickets to displaced families. Will give the kids something to do other than sit in a hotel.
