Everyone says it, but just how do you do it? How do you take the guidelines of the WW program and turn them into a lifestyle you can live every day...from now on? That is what we are here to explore. Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Newbie? Join in! Veteran? Join in! Your thoughts may be just what someone else needs to hear.

I don't know about thoughts. There are foods I no longer eat and high-calorie, low-nutrition foods I still enjoy. But thoughts? I don't know where you're going with this one. For me, this is all pretty simple. I either do what I need to do to control my weight, or I don't. No psychology; no philosophical angst; just do it, or don't1

I think I get it; at least for me...
One thought that still lingers (despite knowing better) is that if I did X exertion today, I can eat more (maybe a lot more) than I usually do and it will offset it. Realistically, I don't think this way often but there are those times. Rarely has it worked out that way so I don't try to rationalize as much as I used to.
The one that lingers is that I will in fact go back to my old ways. That one scares me straight. While I don't think I'd really let it happen, I'm not so naive as to think it couldn't. Maybe this one isn't so much self-defeating as much as it just weighs on me, so to speak. I don't worry about it a great deal but I'm still tracking and going to meetings (and obviously participating here) to decrease the likelihood.0 -
Defeated- I have no discipline. I learned about discipline at the gym. It's like it was there waiting for me to find it. I started going regularly, I started getting stronger. My arms and shoulders got bigger. There was a guy, about my age, thin, on the Stairmaster pouring sweat. I became that guy.
Discipline was belief it would work. I became disciplined when I saw it working.
Lingering- I look fat.1 -
A lingering thought is that food will fix feelings.
A squashed thought is that I have to eat at certain times of the day. I've learned that it really is okay to skip dinner if I had a large lunch and still feel full (think the holidays as we have our big meal in the early afternoon).1 -
Changing from negative "what ifs" to being in the moment and start doing.0
