Broken Meter?

Hi all,
Could my meter just be broken or unreliable?
I got unusually high readings here and there this weekend - I chalked it up to some quinoa and a cookie.
Today I felt very hypoglycemic, so I tested and it said 72. I sat down and ate 6 grapes. Ten minutes later it read 125! So I immediately put in another strip, tested again, and it read 113.
It's now 2 hours later after a good supper and a long walk, and it's back to 87.
Do I have a faulty meter?
Margaret

You could check the meter with a control solution to test the accuracy.0

Not sure. But do you have a meter that you use a testing solution with? I have to check mine every 3 months for accuracy.0

I asked the pharmacist about testing solution, and he said it didn't come with any.0

Well - I have read that most meters have a 20% allowance for error. So a reading of 113 and 125 are pretty much the same reading.
The #s you noted are all close enough to be within this margin of error. I noticed you said quinoa - it spikes me really high, so maybe it is the same with you. And unexpectedly high - even higher than one time I tested while drinking regular soda. I was pretty disappointed to have to take it out of my diet. I might try it again with a higher veggie to quinoa ratio but at this point I would rather work on foods that don't spike me at all.0
