Good afternoon ladies!
On average, how many hours of sleep do you get per night?...are you an early riser?...are you a night owl? Let's talk about how getting rest is important to us and important to our progress.

Soooo, I'd LOVE to get the "required"/suggested 8 hours but the way my life is setup I can't. I have little ones so the majority of nights I have constant interrupted sleep. (I don't get up to soothe them anymore though. I refuse. They are past the age where they need that.) I'm definitely an early riser but you wouldn't know that from the way I've been getting up after 7am lately. I know innately I'm a morning person so I have pushed myself this last week to get up before 7 and I've been successful. My ultimate goal is to go back to getting up at 5am and working out. I can stay up late at night and I do stay up late at night but I really have decided that will cease...as of last night. No more. I feel better when I get up before the sun, before the children. Whether it's to meditate, clean, workout or just lay there I want to commit to doing it. I have reversed my routine (staying up late, waking up late)....because I'm not working BUT I'd like to think that I AM working and I DO have "a job" because a schedule is SO much better to function off of during the day instead of just winging it. Bottom line, I usually get around 6,7 hours of sleep which is probably ok but I'd rather it be something like 10pm-5am instead of the midnight-7 am that I usually do as of lately.0

Yikes, I never get enough sleep. I have to wake up around 6:30am for work, and usually am not falling asleep until 12 or 12:30. I would LOVE to be asleep by 11, but my husband is an insomniac and he keeps me awake until later0

SAME thing here!!!! BUT I've decided we are just going to have different bedtimes. Lol!1 -
Ugh, sleep is a problem area for me! lol. My kids are 10, 5 and 1 so I haven't had a good nights sleep consistently in.....a decade. haha. I'm usually up by 5:00 so I can talk to my husband before he leaves for work, do some paperwork, read, workout, etc. At night, I like to go to bed between 9-10, but I'm frequently up past that. Unfortunately I get in the routine of staying up after the kids and husband go to bed so I can get stuff done. I work 8-4 and then get little one from daycare and meet my husband and kids at home. Animal chores (pigs, pony, dog, etc.), cook supper, dishes, baths, laundry, meal prep for next day, homework, clean out school bag and folders, pack kid's lunch and make sure clothes/shoes/coats etc ready for next day for me and 3 kids, etc. Plus girl scouts, 4h, boy scouts, band concerts, church things, etc. Its sadly common for me to start chores for the day at 9PM and be up well past 11 just so our morning is not hectic. I've been working at making the household run smoother. Its definitely a work in progress. My husband was extremely ill this summer so I've taken on the majority of everything in life while he concentrates on his health (he almost died, body went in to septic shock), so its been a rough few months, on top of recently struggling with anemia and a vitamin D deficiency. I definitely feel better when I get 8 hours of sleep. Right now the struggle has been the 1 year old waking up teething and screaming bloody murder all night. Plus, she climbs out of her crib so we put her in a big bed so she wouldn't accidentally hurt herself. She just gets up and wanders the house in the dark screaming hysterically until you lay down and cuddle with her and hold her hand. Its been rough.1

O-M-G!!!! Please tell me you aren't for real. When I was terribly sleep deprived from having my girls when I reached like the 6-9 month mark I was literally delirious. I had had enough. But clearly I had to keep going.

You SERIOSULY are one busy lady. (I thought I was busy...but my children are still babies). I often imagine how I'd be if I were working. It does seem I was more organized then and got more done.
Lol!! I can't believe your daughter gets out of bed and walks around like that. She's gonna be fierce1 -
I have been working on my sleep for months. I feel I now get almost 8 hrs a night, or just under. Really I should get just over 8 hours.
I've created a night time routine of stopping liquids at least 2 hrs before bed. Then taking shower, evening meditation, turning the lights low in bed, charging my phone and electronics in another room (no electronics next to me, my fiancé is another thing, but I have a battery powered alarm clock) and getting into bed and reading a real book. And then I'm off to sleepy land.
I read Arianna Huffington's "Sleep Revolution" last year which shocked me at how tired we are as a country and the impact it has on how we function. Not to mention the health impact it has.
Anyway, it's been a long process and while some nights are better than others, overall it's improved greatly.2 -

My dude goes to bed later than me so I say night and off to bed I go. He works or watches TV in another room l. It helps a lot.0 -

I think my 3rd baby is definitely going to be the feistiest, and the 1st 2 weren't/aren't exactly easy. LOL. My 1st baby was really colicky for the longest time and would just scream all night every night. There would be some days I'd go to work and I didn't get to sleep one minute the night before. Ugh. It was awful. I just remember sitting in my car in the parking lot at work silently crying because I was so exhausted and had no sleep before I clocked in for the day. Sleep is so important!!! I'm glad those days are behind me. Now she is amused when I tell her what an awful baby she was, lol. She's 10 now and sleeps like the dead! haha
Now the 1 year old found a way she likes to sleep. Not in the crib. Not in a bed. Not on a couch. FACE FIRST ON THE HARD WOOD FLOOR IN THE LIVING ROOM! I'm not kidding. Won't sleep all night in a bed. Will sleep 8-10 hours straight on a hard wood floor. We have a big, thick area rug in there. She avoids that for the only space it doesn't cover. Like I said, she's my crazy one! haha But now that she is sleeping, I'm sleeping. Woohoo!0 -

Thanks! Luckily he is recovering and feels much better. Even when they released him from the hospital after a week, he had to go back every day for weeks to get IV antibiotics. Its crazy how someone can get so sick so quickly!0 -

Ugh. It is awful, huh? I've been taking my pills every day and sleeping more and I already feel so much better. It will probably take months if not longer to get where I need to be though.0 -
