Commercial Line: "Sugar is the enemy of protein" ??

I saw a commercial the other day (I think it was Atkins), and the actor said, "Sugar is the enemy of protein". I tried looking up information, but I could not find out what makes this statement true (or false). How does sugar impact protein?

sugar is considered to be addictive. It's a substance which overrides the cravings for any sensible diet.

Sugar doesn't necessarily "do anything" to protein.
I think many people probably consume too much added sugar in their diets but that doesn't make sugar "the enemy to protein" whatever that is supposed to mean.1 -

I understand most buy into the statement that a calorie is a calorie. That may be true in a lab setting but inside man processed sugar used in food items can cause more reactions than just the creation of energy. Preventing CMA is one sugar wild card for example.
