Ladies, THAT is the question.

Do any of you have opposition towards dairy products?

Do you not consume it because of its association with hormones, acne, allergies etc. If so, what are your alternatives? .... i.e. - almond, coconut, soy?

Do you think its absence in one's diet can improve digestion and skin pigmentation? Alternatively, do you believe its consumption is vital for bones, calcium and strength?

What are your thoughts on dairy consumption?...are you for it, against it or indifferent towards it?

I am not technically lactose intolerant, but I am sensitive to dairy in large amounts. We don’t keep regular milk at home and instead use almond milk. But I still eat regular cheese, coffee creamer, etc - just in smaller amounts so I don’t upset my stomach. I’m trying to slowly reintroduce more dairy back into my diet so I don’t make myself more sensitive to it than I already am ... for example, I usually eat a small thing of Greek yogurt with breakfast now ... I just eat it slowly instead of inhaling it at all once.

I just cut dairy again last week and I feel much better already! Less bloat, fewer general food cravings. I've been mostly off dairy for years but a handful of times let it back in. Small amounts don't bother me. After a month or two, I realize I don't feel so well. Besides the bloat and cravings, eating dairy seems to relate to my joint pain feeling worse. Luckily I enjoy black coffee and cheeseless pizza! I don't really substitute for milk anymore.

So, I don't know much about dairy and its affect on the body....Only from what I've briefly read. I was drinking almond milk for a while until I realized to cut out all dairy I would have to not eat yogurt or pizza or put cheese on anything. Blah! Now I do realize there is Greek yogurt, which I do eat and that there is nondiary cheese. I'd be interested in cutting it out to see if my acne would go away but other than that I pretty much eat it. I drink skim milk for the most part...because although it has more calories than almond milk it has more protein as well. I give my children whole milk just because from what I know it's good for their brain. Lol! I'm not lactose intolerant so I plan to continue its consumption until I know more information about its harmful affects.

Just sauce on the crust, true Neapolitan style! Sometimes lots of veggies.

I also don't know much about the affects of dairy but as far as I know I've never really had a problem with it. Maybe because I drank milk constantly as a kid? Who knows. I love yogurt and cheese and eat both of those daily but I have cut down on drinking milk mostly because of calories.

My husband is a milk fiend though so we always go through at least a gallon a week (and we don't even have kids, he's ridiculous). I've tried other types of milk and my favorite is almond milk. It's SO good on cereal. I've gotten out of the habit of buying it though so usually we just get a gallon of 1% milk and call it a day.

I do think it's important, for women especially, to get enough calcium and vitamin D and dairy is one of the best ways to do that. But now I'm curious now about the benefits of cutting or reducing dairy. If anyone has any resources or articles, etc I'd love to check them out!

The only thing I’ve found so far that tastes weird made with almond milk vs cow milk is mashed potatoes ... but then, I’m not really eating mashed potatoes anymore anyways!

Also, I LOVE that almond milk stays good for such a long time, since I don’t usually go through it too quickly.

I have cut down or eliminated dairy before from my diet. I do my best to limit any dairy yogurt so I now will eat certain brands of coconut yogurts (coyogurt or coyo) when I got to certain stores. I rarely buy dairy milk and mostly stick to coconut, almond or rice milk. I'll use it in smoothies or recipes. I have noticed before with dairy is my stomach can sometimes gurgle. I haven't had pizza in a while and I'm craving it.

I don't crave froyo or ice cream very often, but if I do, I get the real stuff.

I feel like it does make a different in my overall health (clearer skin, lighter feeling, less mucus/allergies), but I haven't been very strict with it recently. Coconut milk has lately been my go to for dairy replacement.
