Edamame affecting menstrual cycle?

So my period has been out of whack these past couple weeks; as in, I'm having one. My birth control is the one that only "allows" a period every few months, but I've been on it long enough I really don't ever have one. But for some reason the past couple weeks I've been having one off and on. The only difference I can think of is that I've been eating edamame as a snack pretty frequently. Could this be causing me to menstruate? Any guesses? It's REALLY annoying to be dealing with this when I haven't had to in a very long time!

I'm pretty sure it's estrogen that brings on the menses. Soy is estrogenic. (I may have just made up that word).

Remind me, how long have you been doing low carb?

    Any health issues like PCOS?

Off and on since March. More on than off, but not religiously. And no, no health issues.
