I was steadily losing weight at around 25 net carbs but I started having sleepless nights and hair loss as well. I adjusted my carb intake to around 50-60 and my sleep has improved but now I’ve actually gained some weight back which is frustrating and killing my motivation. Has anyone experienced this or have any advice? For exercise I walk my dog and do some workout equipment in the park I usually burn about 200 calories according to my watch.

I had hair loss issues once when I wasn't getting enuf fat. Not sure how many fat grams u r eating but shldnt be an issue on a HF diet. Hormone imbalance will also cause hair loss.

How many calories were you eating and how many are you now?

More info would be needed to offer suggestions. Calories? Protein? Fat? (asked above by others). Otherwise, no. I have not experienced what you have experienced (to answer the question).

Too little protein, too little fat and too few calories can cause hair loss. There are also other causes. Also mentioned, too many calories will cause weight gain.

I did not experience weight gain when going from 20 carbs to 50 so that need not be the weight gain culprit. Knock on wood, I've not experienced hair loss but have always planned my intake to keep a "reasonable" balance of macros depending upon my goal of either 1) being in ketosis for health or 2) losing weight.

If I eat too many calories for too long of a time and never offset them with calorie deficit days, I'll gain weight every.single.time. I've had plenty of time to experiment with that one. I've been through stages of thinking/hoping that if something did not appear on my food diary, I didn't eat it. Not saying you're doing this but I know "that duck don't hunt", for me.

Well after adjusting my macros I was still experiencing insomnia which was the main reason I adjusted my carbs to see if my sleep improved. So I’m still working on my sleep habits and trying to stick with a nightly ritual. I’m taking supplements now for my hair which seems to be helping! I believe the “gain” I experienced was from my cycle because right after it I went right back down

    Magnesium helps. It's wonderful.
    Oh, and salt.
But Magnesium seems to work wonders.

I had a little hair loss after I began fasting, it is normal when you are too low in calories. You body takes care of the heart and brain first then the other things. It has since stopped but I still do fasts. And the hair is starting to grow back. I have thick hair so it wasn't a biggie issue for me. Just know your hair will grow back.
