Just starting out, I've cut out pastas, bread, potatoes etc. I'm sticking to veggies and meat. Is this a good start? I've also have stuck to drinking only water (w/ lemon &w/o), and earl grey black tea. If anyone has tips it would be greatly appreciated. Trying to make sure I'm on the right track!
Thank you!
Thank you!

Tips? Ha! You've come to the right place!
Best tip - Take a few moments and skim the LCD group's great and growing collection of resources at: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10103966/start-here-the-lcd-launch-pad
(Then set aside a couple hours and start reading the parts that grab you the most, of course!)2 -
If you're losing weight:
- Eat all the protein you want. Seriously.
- Eat only as much fat as you need (already a food natural content, or the amount you cook in)
- Reduce carbs - some vegetables have them too, so watch the veg/intake.
Other than that, you're free to est, drink and be merry!3 -
I agree with @RalfLott the launch pad is full of great resources. I spent hours in there. As you are reading through the launch pad, don't forget to log everything you eat. Be selective when choosing foods from the database. There will be 12 entries for "tomatoes raw sliced" and each one had different carb amounts. I try to select "USDA data" or "nutritionrank" or I enter the food from the label myself. I am always looking for new friends... add me

This is my current favorite recent add to "The Launch Pad". Very inclusive, easy read.

also the diet doctor site is good for background and recipes and covers low carb and keto with their recipes and information2

@trish55011, good points about logging what you eat and being wary of random MFP entries in the food database.
If you want to get a better estimate of the macro- and micro-nutrients you're taking in, Cronometer is vastly better for logging. (Unfortunately, you can't import/export between Cronometer and MFP.)

I think easing into LCHF and/or keto is often the smart way to go. It has the added bonus of not being such a shock to the system, plus you may be more aware of finding that carb level that feels best for you.
For example, maybe you discover that you feel great at 100g of carbs a day, and feel equally as great at 75g, 50g and 25g. If you enjoy veggies or fruit, you may choose to stay at about 100g of carbs just to enjoy your veggies KWIM?
Don't forget to increase sodium as you lower carbs.2
