October LC Basics Challenge 2017: Week 4 (10/22-10/31)

I just basically did the thing.
I'm back down to 162. My goal weight was 150 and I was there for 2 seconds before I started working on building muscle. Then I had to raise carbs because with my drying disease, keto dries me out too much. So...I did lose well as in my measurements are back down to almost what they were at my goal weight. I'm taking a maintenance week and then I'll be back to slowly inching down a few more vanity pounds while improving strength. My goal for now is to get down to 158 by Christmas. 4lb doesn't sound like a lot, but since I lose so slow, it will take that long.
Next month Basics challenge is up.

October was better than Sept. Not perfect but better. I made strides in working out again!0

No Alcohol
No Sugar Free Chocolate
16:8 Intermittent Fasting
20 mins Intentional Exercise
Water Intake > 2L
Uh, I ate an entire Lilys bar for lunch. So mega-fail on the sugar free chocolate. But otherwise, fine enough. I didn't exercise either. Oh well!
Despite the flopped ending, October went well, down a total of 11 lbs this month!

What happens in Vegas (on Saturdays) stays in Vegas. After 5pm, I don't log, I drink liquor and have carbs. My cal and carb goals the rest of the week are low and pristine to counteract that. I lose terribly slowly, but I do lose about a quarter pound a week. It's fun to be able to let my hair down for part of an evening and not worry about calories and carbs and just enjoy. It's easy for me to stay away from carbs and alcohol all week this way. But Vegas activity stays in Vegas and doesn't migrate outside it. Otherwise it will get away from me and the scale will start inching up.
This is only a strategy that works for veterans who know themselves. I have been low-carbing over 3 years now. I know when I'll lose and when I'll gain. How many carbs are too many, how many cals are too many. I know how to control my food demons. I've learned the strategies to hack my brain and body into cooperating. I've learned how far is "too far." This strategy will not work for everyone. It took me a long time to get to a point where I had the control to do something like this. It's playing with fire, but I'm a "fire marshall" so we're cool.
Thanks for explaining! I've been doing keto/LC for 2 years now (hard to believe) and have experimented with different things. I like the sound of this and might experiment with it myself. (I can see how it wouldn't work for everyone though!)1
