Bullet Proof Coffee-Protein Powder-Keto on Primal Question

Group,

Quick question about the use of bullet proof coffee. I'm currently drinking it every morning in it's unadulterated form, sometimes with an extra tablespoon of coconut oil though, and I love the manic rush of caffeine and MCT.

I've been stalled for a while now. Started drinking this during the stall so it's not the cause. So I am considering ramping up my keto to help break through the stall. Basically fat fasting instead of straight IF every day. That said I'm having a hard time eating enough to satisfy my TDEE, specifically protein. I'm having no problem getting in enough fat.

That said my question is: if I add a scoop of protein powder to the coffee mix, 24g of protein, will it prevent me from getting the manic high of the almost pure fat or reduce the effectiveness of the fat fast?

For those who will caution me to just eat more real food the problem I have with that is I'm just not that hungry eating this way. I eat three meals a day but that usually only gets me to around 1400 kcals and my stomach screaming that it is going to burst. My TDEE being in the area of 3200kcals.

Thank you,

S,

Hi there. I'm new to BP coffee as of Sunday (just started a Whole30) but I have known about it for a long time. Personally, I wouldn't add protein powder (W30 or not) just because it would mess with my IF. Also, I have limits on how much protein or carbs that I want to consume but no limit on fat. Different than you, I find it challenging to keep from exceeding my protein level (20% of calories). I have no problem eating enough, but my food is very nutrient dense since I restrict carbs so much.

Some people are trying eggs in their coffee (some just yolks, some the whole egg) and report that it is delicious and that they almost get a "high" from it. I might try it but not during my fasting window.

Yes, I think the effectiveness of your fat fast would be reduced or lost-but that's just a guess based on my own experience and I'm very biased in favour of no macros except fat during the IF window. However, if you try top quality grass fed whey (with no crappy ingredients-just my opinion again) and it works for you, then do it. I'd be interested to know your results.
