Who drinks BPC? Does it keep you full for the day? Tips on making it delicious? I would like to try it, but don't want to drink a good portion of my calories (doctor has me on 1,200 per day limit) if it isn't going to keep me sated through the day until dinner. Thanks in advance for your stories, hints, tips, etc.!

I do enjoy BPC, but I have an extremely difficult time staying under 1,200 or even 1,400 calories if I include it. I do find it is satisfying for a few hours, though, and when fully fat adapted have been satisfied with only BPC until dinner.

My favorite adaptations include butter, coconut oil, sweetener, cinnamon, and unsweetened cocoa powder.

This is a good option that's closer to a meal and less caloric that some BP coffees. And towards the bottom, she has variations for the pumpkin spice latte version, too.

I was "skimpy" with mine compared to some: 1 tbsp each of heavy cream, coconut oil and butter, in approximately 10-12 ounces of coffee. I typically drink my coffee black, so having a BPC was decadently delicious (sometimes I would add cinnamon or pumpkin spice and I just got an English Toffee flavored stevia for a treat!). I have always classified Starbucks as "dessert in a cup" and really, that is what I now compare BPC to!

I realized though that they were not benefiting me and quit having them regularly. If I am running out the door and am very pressed for time, I will have one because it will "tide me over", but they never really filled me like a meal. My body is starting to naturally lean towards a 16:8 type fast and my BPC is 200+ calories I don't need in the morning and personally would rather eat as food!

Yeah, I used to drink them like they were going out of fashion. Now, I'd rather have an ordinary coffee, a HB egg and maybe a dollop of cottage cheese. That keeps me gong far better. BPC is ok, but not as a regular thing.

I am not a black coffee drinker at all. I had heard the rave about BP coffee so I decided to try it for myself and start with a small amount because I had heard from some wise friends if you put to big of amounts of oil and butter in it before your body is used to it you will be in the bathroom. Well I tried it and it was so disgusting to me and made me nauseous so I decided no thanks I will stick to drinking coffee the way I like it. =)

There are at least a jillion ways to spread your daily food intake over the day, and not everyone wants to eat "real food" right out of the chute.

While a pat of butter in your coffee is a pat of body fat not melted, if it's yummy and helps you stick :* to a routine that works for you, it's pretty hard to see plopping it into your coffee as a dietary crime ;)

Coconut oil is always available in our pantry. My husband has made his popcorn with it for years. There was a time, when eating a MTKD which requires high fat intake, I was making BPC on a regular basis.

My opinion is the oil/butter needs to be whipped into the brew. I used a Magic Bullet for that purpose. Occassionally I like my coffee flavored but drink decaf which isn't readily available in flavors. I add spices or 100% cocoa to the brew basket with coffee grounds. That way I get the flavor in the coffee but not the gunk on the bottom of my mug.

I no longer eat a MTKD. I drink BPC occassionally now but not often. It's tasty stuff. Since i drink decaf, I'm more inclined to use BPC as a nightcap like others might use a cup of cocoa or a glass of wine.

Tried them all in the beginning....Never could get used to either butter or coconut oil in my coffee.....Didn't mind the coconut oil in a cup of chai tea, but never really seemed to keep me satisfied all day the way some did. Didn't take me long to stop even bothering.....The longer I am keto the less stuff goes in my coffee.....I used to be the sugar and creamer type and now I am strictly a bit of heavy cream. Can't even stand to use artificial sweeteners at this point.

Now if I am in the mood for a treat I don't mind making a sort of latte with a big dollop of mascarpone blended in......LOL

No ... just no. Someone will rip my straight up black coffee from my cold dead hands! Anyone caught trying to put stuff in said coffee will lose their fingers!

I don't get the fascination with BPC or really any kind of *fixed* up coffee. Trying to find just plain old black coffee is becoming like a treasure hunt. When you find it you want to do the happy dance!

/end rant ... YMMV of course and obviously you do you! Post was not meant to offend anyone!

No offense taken, Catawampous :) I have now tried the BPC multiple times, and I just cannot get on board... I am now resigned to delicious plain black coffee!

Yeah I am with you on that. I can't do it either. I would rather have coffee with half and half or heavy cream and if its really good nothing at all.

I love a good bulletproof once in a while. But I am usually too lazy or on the other hand too rushed to bother dirtying the blender. I drink my coffee black usually, with heavy cream if I am not hungry but it will be a while before I have to opportunity to eat, and bulletproof style when I have time to sit and enjoy it.

A friend sent me a recipe for pumpkin spice bulletproof. The calorie count is basically a meal but a great treat if you are craving one.

    Good quality coffee, fresh brewed
    2tbsp butter
    2tbsp heavy cream
    Sweetener to taste
Pumpkin pie spice to taste (I used 1/4 tsp, you could also add it to the basket with dry coffee grounds before you brew)
    Blend well
If you want it super high cal and pretty top it with whipped, unsweetened cream.

If you're trying to maintain your weight and need extra calories, then I might see sneaking it in. But, even when I eat 3,000 calories a day, I rarely feel that I need to just pour calories down my gullet.

It can be tasty. But, if you're on a low amount of calories, give it a pass.

I agree with everyone else here, if you have a limited amount of calories, BPC is not the way to go... you can have way more satiating meals with the same amount of calories. BUT unlike the majority here, I actually do love how it tastes. When I would make it, I’d use grass fed butter, MCT oil and a splash of heavy cream if I was feeling fancy. And you must must blend it... use a frother (less dishes to wash lol)... it changes the whole consistency of the coffee into a sort of latte.

^^Yes, ^^ admittedly; when I had BPC more often, it had to be well worth it, creamy, flavoursome and substantial. I also went down the 'added egg-yolk' route....

When I did BPC style I swallowed a tbsp of MCT, ate a tsp of butter with extra salt, then drank my 2 c of yummy plain black coffee so I wouldn't ruin it. It was ok but I found I didn't need to eat extra fat to get through until 3 or 4 pm. The MCT is/was part of a brain health experiment and not so much for holding me thru a fast.
