Technical question - can anyone help?

A friend of mine has repeatedly tried to join MFP (and find his way on here), but he keeps getting a screen message that reads:
"APPLICATION ERROR
www.myfitnesspal.com
There was a problem with your request
Sorry but a server error occurred while processing your request. Our team has been notified of the issue."
Now, here's the thing: I remember running into this problem too, when I first tried to join. I can't remember how I got round it....
Anyone else had this?
How can it be resolved?
(The 'team' of course, never got back to me or did anything.... and neither have they to my friend....)

I think I joined through the google playstore app on my (android) phone. I rarely have technical issues , it's user friendly for me most of the time, it's right on my phone so it's easy to use daily, and it's free. I've been an almost daily user since 2014.0

Well, I didn't join via my 'phone, and subsequent attempts on my part [to join via a laptop] worked.... I just wish I could remember what I did!!0

I've had problems on firefox so I installed google chrome just for mfp but now firefox works again (most of the time). I don't have any problems with mfp on my iPad.0

Has he tried to join using another laptop or another name? Just incase it's the server he is using or the email address I know I get application error messages every so often and indeed, they do say they will get back to me, which they don't, so I just log out and back in and then it works but I'm already a member obvs! Has he tried with his phone and then if he can join that way he can just use his lap top after he has joined or vice versa. Just random useless thoughts..............0 -
What browser is he using? I know MFP acts like a complete *kitten* on some browsers.
Chrome works with it.
I'll go check the others.
*Edit: Well, d4mn. All 3 of them are currently working with MFP for a change, but then my browsers have all recently updated.
I third(? I think that's where we are now) have him see if he can sign up through phone? And/or pester them mercilessly until they effin do something.

Has he ever emailed the Help Center? This directly pokes one of the tech-folk.
Click "Help" at the top of MFP mail screen.
Contact them directly by clicking the circled link.
Of course if he's already done that, I suppose it's only polite to do it again since they must have misplaced the request...oops.
