How does the hbA1c test result compare to the results you get from a blood glucose test monitor.
For example what does an hbA1c result of 6% mean in terms of a daily average blood glucose test result?? Is there a way of performing this calcuation?

There is a good chart at: http://www.diabeteschart.org/bgc1.html I found a couple others but they were a bit off what the doctor's lab came up with and this one was spot on ( when rounded off). According to this chart an hbA1c of 6 is an average glucose of 125.0

that chart was very helpful getting an idea of the relationship of averages and hba1c % - wonder if there are any apps that can provide a projected hba1c based on daily glucose readings from testing monitor0

Unless you're on a full time monitor, with the ups and downs of BG and the limited testing we do (usually a few times a day), so far I've found that I always expect a lower number than I actually get when I have an A1c test.0

I fooled myself, trying to divine what my a1c would be by averaging my BG readings, and comparing to a chart. I was testing 6 times a day; fasting, postprandial, and pre & post exercise. I wasn't even close... a full point high. Now I check fasting every morning, and post meal when I introduce something new to my diet.0
