We meet here to explore, share, celebrate, and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for December are:
Monday - 88olds
Tuesday - goldenfrisbee
Wednesday - minimyzeme (Kim)
Thursday - imastar2 (Derrick)
Friday - bwmalone
Today's topic: Fast food
If you find yourself on the road all day unexpectedly or you just didn't have time to make a lunch, where do you find the best options for healthy eating.

Sorry for the delay, but I was on the road all day, which made me think of this.
For me, in this area of the Chicago suburbs I find that Chipotle is a good option. I usually order a burrito bowl without the guac and cheese. If I can't find that, I just grab a cheap burger at McDonalds for about 250 calories to hold me over.0 -
Thanks. for me although I don't do fast food often (kinda too slow for me) I do go to Subway and get a 6 inch sub of roasted chicken without the cheese and mayo but with veggies, pepperoncini etc.0

I usually do a McDouble, Only 12 SPs, which I can take.0

Culver's now offers a gluten-free bun so a burger and small fries hits the spot after a long bike ride or hike. Wendy's offers a baked potato.
However, I nearly always have my lunch bag with me so I usually have almonds and/or a protein bar to tide me over in the event that I'm out longer than I had originally planned.0 -
Chipotle, Subway, and Chick Fil A are my go tos. Also Costco. The pizza is a hard hit on my points, but with the new program, it's very doable and yummy!0

Chick col grilled chicken Sandwich with side salad ( no cries) or grilled chicken salad. Wendy's grilled chicken sanwhich & side salad. Subway turkey salad. Petty much stay on that theme of possible.

Jersey mike's has a number of good subs with reasonable cals, or they'll turn them to salad for you.
There's a local taco shop that has great burritos - all meat. As long as I stick to half of one, I'm ok... just a lot of salt.
Chipotle is good - easy to stay under if I'm careful.

I've done the Subway thing, but can't remember which variety. I used to order the salad version of the sub but they charge an extra $2. I order the sub, skin it live at the table and just eat the guts.
$2 extra for a salad--no way!
More often though, I'll pop into a grocery store and pick up some roasted / grilled chicken or a salad and a piece of fruit.0 -
I'm a budget girl to the extreme, so it pains me to pay $5-$10 when I can make food at home for a fraction of the price which means I always have grab and go options ready. If I'm truly stranded, I do what @minimyzeme does and pop into a grocery store. They have A TON of grab and go healthy food items for a fraction of the price.0
