Good morning everybody!
Hope you all had a nice holiday yesterday.
Our Christmas Dinner was yummy and filling. LOL
Going to hit the gym soon, come back and have lunch, and then relax outside today.
Sunny and warm in Florida, which is nice. Back home we have cold and snow.
Have a nice one. See you soon.1 -

Merry Christmas to all.....
hope everyone has been enjoying their holiday! Thanks for the shout out to me and a few others. All is well here and I’ve had a lovely Christmas with family, even though there are only 6 of us! I’m picking up new runners later this week so I can get moving again for my 10k steps... I’ve been only doing about 3-5k these last few months! I feel a little gross and will not measure myself until I feel better... plan on making some brothy type soups later this week too. Just so you know, this down cycle of working on yourself really sucks! I must pay more attention to making some goals for the day and not giving up on them because other people have plans they want to intervene on my day..... when I first started dieting with 5:2, about 2 yrs ago, I was so focused, determined and my attitude was fired up but now after 2 years I’ve let that attitude slip. So those of you doing well right now, make a note not to get complacent and unfocused.... make a note 4 months from now to remind yourself how hard you’re working and that you look great because you’ve worked hard. That’s my goal for this next year... to make notes in my calendar on my phone that will send messages to myself in the future... think it will work ?? It’s worth the try right?
Happy new year!!2 -
Good morning everybody!
Glad you had a nice Christmas @KateNkognito and I agree with you on how nice it is having time off. It is nice to go to bed later and be able to sleep in!
Hi @mamainthekitchen I think that sounds like great advice. Also I find planning ahead helps me a lot. I plan the meals out for the whole week and will cook stuff on the weekends, so all we have to do is follow the plan that is in place for us. During the week we are dead on plan with no cheating and on the weekends we will allow ourselves some free meals. Works for us. Also have found exercise to help burn more calories too.
Tried an eliptical at the gym and liked in. Had trouble finding it in MFP so put the step mill. That is a good one too. Might do that today. My calves are sore! Trying to mix it up a little and try more cardio machines while the gym is not as busy.
We fly back to the cold north east on Friday. Boo!
Have a good one and see you soon.0 -
Good job heading to a gym while away from home Meghan! Elliptical look like so much fun... I have a metal spike through my knee so I can do those sorts of exercises - plain old walking is my thing. But I also do weights 3 times per wk. I’m going to update my podcast list today. Out with the old in with the new sort of thing... and browse around for funny ones as those sure help with the walks!
Today I noticed that mfp is congratulating me for logging in 290 days in a row... this is my second stint (I was out of town for a funeral year & a half ago and plain forgot to log in which made me start back to day 1). Anyhow, since these last 290 days have been half *kitten* effort days.... I’ve decided to not log in tomorrow! I check my steps each day on this site, which makes it look like I’ve logged my food which I haven’t for quite some time!! So with skipping tomorrow, Thursday, I’ll open this site on Friday and I should have a clean slate... day 1, fresh & new! Also if anyone would like to add me, my diary is an open book.., just don’t look at this past year... I started 5:2 in oct ‘15 and was very diligent for 8 months! My stats now: 58(cough) 5’6” and I measure, not weigh.... so I’m around 33 inch waist but don’t want to check that!!!? Determined to get back to my 29” waist!!!!
Whew!!! Okay talk to you people Friday!
Peace out to those lousy 290 days!!!!

Christmas was wonderful. I ate too much and didn’t exercise for a few days (but pretty much had planned to do that
. Unfortunately I got more achy and head pounding as yesterday progressed so at some point I picked up a cold. Been sleeping a LOT.
So today I picked up on the good eating but exercise will have to wait a day or two until I don’t feel so weak.
Hoping y’all had as great a Christmas Day as I did - I’m getting back on the 5:2 wagon tomorrow! Soup will be good for me with this cold anyway!

Soup for lunch, soup for dinner- 5:2 on track again today! Hope everyone has had good day - fasting or not!2

Good morning all!
Sorry I forgot to check in here yesterday.
Been enjoying the last few days of our vacation. Yesterday we skipped the gym so that we could have more time outside. Honestly looking forward to getting back on track. Tired of eating dinners out and am looking forward to our healthy routine again.
@mamainthekitchen would love to connect with you and continue on our journey together. As of next week I will be back to tracking everything. Right now, not much to see LOL.
Going to make some more coffee and will see you soon!1 -
Alrighty, my plan didn’t work.... now I’m at a 292 day streak with mfp... I was hoping since I haven’t logged in since wed 27th I would loose my streak of days and go back to zero? Maybe a full 48 or 72 hrs? I was hoping to start a new fresh streak that was honest with me logging my food! Not just checking people’s posts... I don’t loose weight reading people’s posts and I hate that mfp wants to congratulate me for that!
So far today I’ve munched on 8 grams of unsalted almonds & I’m sipping hot water mixed with 1 tsp apple cider vinegar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp honey and using a long cinnamon stick to stir! Quite yummy with a little honey added... was having no honey for a while and it’s a little too sour so just a drop of honey is enough... it’s suppose to be good for you, and wards off starvation, so say Pinterest. Dinner is going to be grilled chicken breast spiked with cumin topped with fresh spicy salsa! First fast day since the beginning of December! Actually, I’m going to try to detox all weekend.... way too much alcohol! Gosh love my Pinot Grigio!! Too much salt, thank you for puffy eyes Miss Vicky, and all over indulgence!
Ok so today is day one... even though mfp day it’s day 292. Darn. K. Maybe I won’t log in until Monday!!
Have a great weekend everyone, I’ll log in on Monday and hope that’s my new start after all, it’s a new year!!!
HAPOY NEW YEAR!!!

@mamainthekitchen On the MFP website you can reset your streak. I can never remember how, so I search it in the community section and they have a link.3

Good morning all!
LOL @mamainthekitchen I can relate! The holiday break has been hard on me too. Lots of meals out. Hoping the gym work outs have helped to save my rear a little.
We arrived back in to cold CT last night. Boooo... FL was mid 70's when we left. When we arrived in to NY it was 20 degrees.Oh well, back to reality!
Planning to get a gym work out in today. Then a bunch of laundry, unpacking, grocery shopping, and all that fun stuff.
Tomorrow night we are spending NYE in Boston. If one of you ladies, could plan on starting the weekly thread on Monday that would be cool! If I do it, it will be later LOL.
Have a good one and I will see you all soon. In case I don't get back in time - Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year all! I finished work today, and we got to the store just before the cold front +rain/ice moved in. Given how Texans freak their kittens out about driving in cold +wet, we plan to burrow in for the New Year weekend. We have movies and some calls planned with the long distance friends and family. We are well fixed for food:steaks, a rotisserie chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala fixings. And I’m going to make some more soup with Christmas Dinner’s frozen beef bones. Oh, and hubby bought me an air fryer for Christmas, so I have to break that in for sure!
And a non-scale repurposing victory to report! Being prone to multiple extreme hot flashes (especially in the evening) has proven challenging in the wardrobe department. I mostly wear beach cover-up dresses at home, under layers of wraps and sweaters. When the intense heat and sweating hit I unwrap. Today, looking for anything a bit more respectable (My mother-in-law said she might drop by) I saw hidden in the back if the closet some silk pants (size 14) hidden among some other outsized clothes. The soft 100% silk beckoned me. It turns out that if you wear a belt, pants that are 3 sizes too big don’t fall off, and silk pants make wonderful light weight decadent feeling house pants to wear under a tunic!

Where HAS this year gone? I want to say Thank You to all you folks for all the help and fun conversation this year! Y'all are the best! I wish you a Happy New Year and huge successes both on and off the scale!1

Happy New Years everyone!
I had a little mishap with the hard drive holding all my 5:2 graphics...got over 9 years on that drive; not too bad. This is the reason the "kristmas kitties" have been up so long. I have most of it saved on one of my portables. Instead of searching for it I figured it would be a good time to update the logo/icon.
This latest one (from this morning)...
...is a little flashy. So please comment and let me know what you think. It's a representation of all of us as a group and I'm used to people telling me they want something different (you're not going to hurt my feelings), so please add your 2 cents.
Personally I don't really like the font and I prefer the older pastel types of colors we had before...was trying for a sunlit effect. I like the outside rim OK, with the letters of the weekdays...hmm, maybe. Maybe a solid font with a couple of light flares on the 5 and 2.
The format size used on MFP is 140x140 pixels, so lighting/shadow effects could be lost in the end result.
Thanks,
Rus1 -
@orlcam I like it when it is smaller. Blown up in your post, I wasn't a fan, but when I scrolled up and saw it at the top, I liked it.1

@orlcam - I like the new logo. I agree with @KateNkognito, when it is the smaller logo at the top, it looks very nice.. The colors are eye catching. Thx for creating the new look.0
