We meet here to explore, share, celebrate, and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for December are:

Monday - 88olds
Tuesday - goldenfrisbee
Wednesday - minimyzeme (Kim)
Thursday - imastar2 (Derrick)
Friday - bwmalone

Today's topic: Do you have a stop limit on your weight gain? Like 2 lbs or 5 lbs or any weight? before you change or look into what you need to do

I don't usually get to concerned till I hit 5 or 10 lbs over because of my weight. At that point I know that something is amiss and usually I already know before I get to that point where I may have jumped track. So I make adjustments to get back on track.

This year for some reason it's been more difficult than other years to stay on track or in other words get back on track after getting off track. It may be somewhat of a passive mood for what ever reason. I'll shake it off it and get to going again.

No real STOP sign, but, as a daily weigher, if I notice it going upwards all week, whoa Nellie. I can fluctuate five pounds in one day (sodium ) but if it continues upwards I know I'm NOT LTL.

Even though I don't follow the WW points system, I still view my monthly LT WI as a form of accountability. Thus my STOP sign is if Happy Scale is showing my average weight to be above my WW goal weight. I've had a few close calls in 2017, but have managed to "make weight". It will be 6 years in February when I first made my goal weight.

I'd rather be at my personal goal which is 5 pounds lighter. I was there until mid-2015 when things got out of control with work-related stress. I just haven't found the motivation to get those pounds back off. I did manage to lose them in the beginning of 2016, but then the summer semester kicked in and they crept back.

My line in the sand was 186lbs. And when I was up against it, it stuck. 186.2 was the WW point where I would have to start paying again to attend my meeting. But that was then.

More recently I ramped my number back to 180 and now to 175lbs. But I haven’t really been tested.

There are numbers you tell yourself you’re going to fight for, and there are numbers that you really do fight for. We’ll see.

I don't worry about a pound or less fluctuation; you guys taught me it's not unusual to have that or more in a day. I generally am more concerned with weight averaged over seven days than my weight on any single day.

I've been trending a bit upward since summer. I'm still below my BMI upper limit but a few pounds above where I'm most comfortable. My clothes still fit fine so I haven't resorted to any drastic measures but if it continues, I'll find my threshold...

The decade of the 60s as in 160Lb . If my average weight is that or above I really need to hunker down.
