I'm on low carb diet for 2 years now. At first I was skeptical because of all the faults info about it, but now i know it's the best thing I've done for me.

Some of it about LCHF is coming from healthcare professionals who should know better.

People are brainwashed by years of "fat is bad" and "50% of your intake has to be carbs." I had a conversation with someone at church.
She: "I hear you are on a diet. How are things going? I am on a diet too. What are you doing?"
Me: "I am watching carbs."
She: "That will never work. I am seeing a nutritionist and have a personal trainer. I am eating a balanced diet but watching portion size."
Me: "Good for you. How is that working for you?"
She: "I am hungry all the time and have gained two pounds, but it is the right thing to do, and I know it will work. How about you? I guess you have lost some water weight."
Me: "I have lost a little over 100 pounds so far."
She: "You will never keep it off."10 -
Been eating this way over a year and just now had my first negative response. Even my doctor and neurologist were on board, but told my neighbor (who is a nurse) the other day that I was on the ketogenic diet and she immediately said...."Oh no.....don't do it." I was caught a little off guard, but explained my doctor and neuro were fully on board and I believe I am following the plan correctly.7

I never talk about it... most folks wouldn’t eat as strict as me. I just tell folks gym time....5

Even my doctor (endocrinologist specialized at diabetes) tends to believe that I don't need to do it for life time :P Even if she was the one that diagnosed it's time to cut off metformin cause I don't need it any longer.......1

Very low carb works for me. Like @Nottaway1 , my food choices are not something I discuss in my personal life. I choose to just blend in and let them wonder how I lost my excess weight and kept it off for nearly 4 years. I am quite certain the conversation would go much like @2t9nty had with the person who brought it up to him. People want to know. They generally don't want to listen. Just doubt and spout. When asked, my response is usually I eat less and move more because it is true.3

It is a good response. I have considered saying I have cut out sweets and am eating less. This is also true, and it is probably not more information than they can process.6
