I just want to confirm, I am doing my re-set. I am 21 days in (3 weeks) and I have gained 8lbs. I do not change my TDEE correct? I keep with the original TDEE I set when I started right? I am pretty sure I gained from not eating enough and a bit too much cake on vacation:P So I am confident that this will come off soon. Anyone......

1. Do I change TDEE as I gain on reset or no?

You might take a look at how much it actually changes with only 8 lbs.

    You'll discover your own answer.

More inaccuracy over that in probably 1 food label.

If I change my TDEE for the 8 lbs I gained last week, I am over by 90 cals....thinking it is not a huge deal as I probably will flucuate anyway....yeah?

    Sure will.

Now, when time to take the cut from this reset, do start with current weight TDEE. But while resetting you don't want to keep eating to higher weight TDEE even though that would be more accurate on paper, some of the weight gain may be because the TDEE is wrong and you are eating over TDEE already.

So if it is possible that I am gaining because I am possibly eating over TDEE, how long do I do that for????? I am only week 3 on my 12 week re-set....do I worry about it or just keep at it? I have not gained since I got home and have been eating again.

You will always gain weight when eating over TDEE, be that a real suppressed TDEE, an actual full burning TDEE, or a calculated TDEE.

Always to the math though, and keep it clearly in mind, or you will keep freaking yourself out.

250 calories over TDEE on daily basis for 2 weeks is only ........ 1 lb.

So if you made a massive jump up in calories from a suppressed TDEE level of prior eating, then you were in surplus of whatever those calories were for however long it takes metabolism to match that move.

You can only do the math for part of that, but it sounds like if no weight gain lately, the metabolism side happened.

You'd never know until you did that 2 week test if you are at real calculated and real TDEE, or possibly still at a suppressed TDEE.

Stay at your original TDEE calculation. Chances are, that gain is just temporary and will disappear or stabilize a your body adapts and adjusts to the new level at which you are eating.

And to answer your second question, if your weight was continuing to increase, then you would want to re-run your numbers and make sure everything was correct as you might be over TDEE. But, by the sounds of it, since your weight has now stabilized, you are most likely on the right path.

One other reminder: don't stress about the numbers too much. This is the hardest part of the journey, and you are doing great. The body reacts very negatively to stress, so just try to relax and enjoy the process if at all possible. Enjoy the new foods you are now able to eat and the new-found energy you might start to be feeling. Stress is not our friend...
